Following on from the 2013 Mazda6 video teaser trio released last week, yet another video and a leaked static image have surfaced – giving us the best look yet at the new third-generation sedan.

The still image clearly shows the new mid-sized car’s links to the Mazda Takeri concept, seen at the 2011 Tokyo motor show, with the Kodo design language heavily influencing the styling. Bold lines and an aggressive front bumper give the new Mazda6 a more purposeful look from the front.

The video highlights the car’s profile with a slow pan down the side of the vehicle, tying together the previous moving teasers that showed the front end, side mirror and rear end.

The sedan will make its world premiere at the Paris motor show in September, potentially following the unveiling of the recently spied Mazda6 wagon, which will reportedly debut at next month’s 2012 Moscow motor show.

The new Mazda6 will become the Japanese manufacturer’s second model designed from the ground up using SkyActiv technologies and will feature fuel efficient petrol and diesel engines, a newly developed six-speed automatic transmission, engine stop-start, and Mazda’s ‘i-ELOOP’ regenerative braking technology.

The range will be sans a hatch variant, however, with the liftback body style having been dropped from the third-generation Mazda6′s line-up.

    I think they’re on a winner here!

  • Sonic

I still think it would have been more awesome to see a sleeker version of the Nagare language for the new 6.

Their teasers are clever. I am wanting to see more. The front styling appears similar to the CX5 to me which isn’t necessarily a good thing.

I’ll wait until the final reveal to make a judgement however. I am a fan of the current 6 and don’t understand why it doesn’t sell better given the 3 is hardly a benchmark but selling in droves.

      Two words: Honda Euro

    • Info

Sales results would be the $10,400.00 difference in price difference between the 3 and the 6.
Honda Euro is nice, but this new Mazda 6 is looking very slick. Zoom, Zoom.

I’d be more excited if Mazda announced a turbo-petrol engine to go along with it. What are the odds the new 2.5L SkyActiv petrol engine will still be too lethargic to haul a 1500kg wagon with a family in it…

if the other aspects of the car are as good as it looks, it might just enjoy similar success to the original mazda 6

  • Bradstrewart

I still have my original Mazda6 and love it! Getting on km’s wise and not a giant fan of the current 6 (other than in luxury sport spec) been holding out for this and it looks promising that i’ll be upgrading to one of these next year! :)

  • Basil Exposition

Likely to be expensive if the current over the too CX5 pricing is anything to go on with.

  • Stanley

A bit like the RX-8. Looks good so far.

Finally, the mid-size car segment has some really awesome looking new cars from the Japanese. Can’t wait! Hoping they price it right though.

  • PS

Looks like Volvo and Mazda have a child together… overall, it looks reminiscent of S60 and RX-8… I like.

The new design is elegant conservative I think…. just like the CX-5… Very resolved and will age well, albeit less edgy.

How it is going to drive is key. Must be priced competitively. Reversing camera almost a safety must these days. But sure is a beautiful thang!
