2014 BMW M3 / M4 Spy Photos

Photos of the upcoming BMW M3 or M4 have surfaced with the car undergoing testing in Europe.

Although the naming convention is still unconfirmed, rumours suggest that the sedan will be called M3 and the coupe and convertible will take the M4 badge. Technical details of the car are extremely scarce but BMW of North America CEO, Ludwigh Willisch, has confirmed to BMW blog that it will be an inline turbocharged six-cylinder engine. How many turbos? Many have speculated that it will be a tri-turbo but it’s currently unconfirmed.

BMW will bring out the next generation M3/M4 in 2014 and is still concentrating on the current M3 model, which is in special edition mode. There are around 100 BMW M3 pure editions still destined for Australia.

BMW has committed to a goal of moving all its engines to a turbocharged system, with the M3 being the last model to do so when the new one arrives. This follows the new BMW M5, which went from a V10 to a twin-turbo V8.

The BMW M3 competes head to head with the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG, Audi RS4 and Lexus IS F.
