The Renault Megane Hatch Sport Edition has been released, offering customers more features, more value and more exclusivity.

Based on the entry-level Dynamique specification level, only 115 Megane Hatch Sport Editions will be sold. The special edition sees the inclusion of LED daytime running lights, rear parking sensors, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear stick, tinted windows with rear privacy glass and 17-inch Schuss alloy wheels with a full-size spare wheel.

Limited edition trim details include a front grille insert, tinted headlights covers, body coloured side mouldings, electric and heated Metallic Grey door mirrors and Metallic Grey door handles. The Megane Hatch Sport Edition also introduces a new metallic Prussian Blue colour to the range.

Available with both six-speed manual and continuously variable transmission (CVT) options, both are tied to a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 102kW of power (103kW CVT) and 195Nm of torque.

Fuel consumption ranges from 7.9 litres per 100km in CVT guise to 8.2L/100km with the manual.

Foglights, automatic headlights, automatic windscreen wipers, cruise control with speed limiter, and auxiliary and USB inputs plus Bluetooth audio streaming are all carried over from the Dynamique along with dual front, side and curtain airbags.

At $23,990 for the manual and $25,990 for the CVT, Renault says the Sport Edition represents over $1800 of added value over the $22,990 Dynamique for only a $1000 premium on the recommended retail price.

The Renault Megane Hatch Sport Edition comes with a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty and five years’ roadside assistance.

I really dislike like those alloy wheels. The silver surrounds around the DRL’s also look a bit like vampire fangs.

Yeah… those rims look like $99ea special from GoodYear….

I was just about to make a post saying something like that. Thanks for doing it for me.

Another dud Megane… Sorry I’m off to have a puke.

I like it. I think it’s been a good looking car from the beginning, it’s just the base model they’ve been selling here is Toyota Corolla-boring looking. It’s amazing what some decent wheels and some silver on the grill can do.

Pity that Renault won’t bring the GT Version to Australia like they have in Europe. Had a rental Laguna in France in January, with a 1.5TD and it was an impressive car. If there was a GT Megane available here for a reasonable price, I’d be lining up straight away.

I adore RenaultSports but the regular range just doesn’t do it for me, I’m afraid.

bloody stingy ‘special’ edition, does renault really buyers to rush in to pay $1000 extra for only $1800 of extras. dreaming

What’s going on – it looks too good to be a Renault. Did someone lose Renault’s ugly stick?

I purchased a Renault Megane Sport’s edition (Petrol) a few weeks ago. A great car to drive, no where near as fuel efficient as my Peugeot 306 was in city driving. None the less, very happy with the car.
