I like it much more than the current 4 door style – they need chrome 20′ wheels on the 5 series so your attention is drawn away from the hideous car, and dont get me started on the 3 series sedan… The concept is much smoother, more like a bentley coupe maybe. That said, Cupid Stunt is right – 2012 is a long way away. That is the shape they need right now, not in 4 years. $150K plus?? I’d guess well over $300K for this one.

Style wise its not really progressive is it. 2012 is a while away and this looks like its been styled based on BMW current designs which are considered not the most attractive. BMW need to push the drawing pens a bit harder.
Hey BM does this mean the next M5 will have a V12. or is it too big to squeeze under the bonnet!!

Our market is tiny, and thanks to tariff’s, LCT’s, and massive mark-ups on high end vehicles by the dealers, we pay through the nose. There are many great cars for less than $50K in a number of markets including the USA.

These ultra-high end vehicles might be sold in relatively small numbers by their respective manufacturers but the fact they’re based on (in most cases) already existing architecture makes them highly profitable. This 8 Series isn’t BMW’s bread and butter but I’m sure it’d have a much bigger profit margin than their 1 or 3 Series. Still lots of money to be made!

There isn’t an awful lot to go on from these two pictures, however to me it actually looks like one of the better balanced BMW’s of late, certainly more elegant than the 6 or 7 series.

I wouldn’t have thought that sales of the CLS were setting the world on fire though, why is every manufacturer in such a rush to develop a four-door-coupe?

why is it such a compromise buying a car? It seems like for every positive in an affordable car, there are 2 negatives to compromise on. I’ll keep my 06 Mazda 6 Luxury Sports thanks – a beautiful car, but again, slightly underpowered i.e. compromise.

I agree with Ray… Not the best looking.

Although, just a personal thing, I have never really liked the bigger BMW saloons, much prefer the smaller 1 or 3 series!
