I read American reviews of cars here in Australia and it amazes me how many problems you get over there. Do you all realise your US-made left-hand driver copies of these Japanese models (we get here) are seemingly always built to a lesser standard and have problems we virually NEVER get here. In Australia, Japanese vehicles - especially Nissans and Toyotas run completely without fault for years. Same story with Toyotas, Mitsubishis (and formally Nissan ) that are , or were , made here in Australia. It amazes me how many problems you have over there ... and most people seem to know that they are the good ones ( as opposed to GM etc) It's probably due to price competition as your prices are cheap. We pay more but get a better built vehicle from the same multi-national Japanese Companies. Hard to see a solution with your ultra-competitive market place. No ideas on a solution (from me)other than these forums embarressing the US factories. G'day from OZ friends.

Lads, Lads - all i want to say is that my 06 2.5Td is the best rig ive ever driven and it craps on my brothers 3.0 Td Patrol. Im glad they arent in a hurry to change the shape, every time I see a Prado dropping the kids off at primary school it makes me smile on the inside :) Its fair to say that the R51 Pathfinder is Australias best kept secret when it comes to the Toorak Tractor market.

Mark Greenburg - The new patrol wil debut in mid - late 2009 as a 2010 model. And yes it will be sold in america since either the armada or Qx56 models will soon be discontinued and thus the new patrol will fill in that gap so Richo's news is not that old. And although the previous gen patrol wasnt sold in america, it was a major hit in the middleeast, certain parts of asia and africa!! Rumours are that it will also have a variety of V6 and V8 petrol engines along with newly developed diesel enigne.
And Richo the pathy already gets the V8 in america but dunno if its gonna be sent anywhere else, but nyways ive got the V6 and that has plenty of power..

^LH, lets say it together.........BORING!!
The upgrade is probably the optional camo masking as pictured………………..
come to think, the UN is the only market for these so start upgrading the first aid kits, belly plates & bullet glass and some might sell.

I would like VW to start importing Seats into Australia again. Sure they mightn't be that powerful but [overall] they look good are well built economical and reliable with an impressive list of features etc.. not quite as good as a Golf but as good as if not better than a Corolla.

In relation to the Pathfinder...its similar to the X-Trail/Murano/Dualis or Prado/Landcruiser... its virtually the same size etc as a Patrol so why bother making both

Richo - your information is old. With the current climate in the US, a Patrol size vehicle would surely fail and make no sense, considering they already have a HUGE 4WD there that's even larger than the Patrol - the Armada, complete with 5.8L V8. So where on earth would the Patrol fit in? Do you have any idea how many Toyota LandCruisers sell in the US each year? Let's just say that despite being 15 times larger than Australia, their LandCruiser sales don't even match ours. So imagine how a Patrol (a nameplate that's unknown in the US) is going to do?
