The limited edition Mitsubishi Pajero ACTiV has joined the Japanese car maker’s ACTiV line-up offering more features and a $55,990 (manual) drive away price tag.

Based on the 147kW/441Nm diesel-powered Pajero GLX, the ACTiV is available in both five-speed manual and five-speed automatic variations and sees the addition of front fog lights, side steps, alloy nudge bar, rear spoiler, privacy glass, and body-coloured door handles and mirrors.

The interior has benefitted too with Mitsubishi’s Multi Communication System (MMCS) with seven-inch full-colour in-dash touch screen featuring voice command and reversing camera monitor as well as an 860-watt Rockford Fosgate audio system.

The Pajero ACTiV comes with a swag of safety tech including Mitsubishi’s reinforced impact safety evolution (RISE) body construction system, anti-lock brakes (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution, electronic stability control and six airbags. The company’s Super Select 4WD II driving system that allows drivers to alternate between 2WD and 4WD modes is accompanied by 17-inch alloy wheels and the Pajero’s 3000kg braked towing capacity.

Has this model hit the 10 year mark yet? Must be very close!

    • MisterZed

Um, 12 year mark.  Current shape was introduced in 2000.

  • pixxxels

The Pajero continues its long, slow goodbye…

  • DES

This thing has been out since 1999. They are flogging a dead horse.

This is still great value. One would choose this over a Prado and pocket a $10K saving that could go towards a camper trailer.

I’m looking to replace my 2009 GU6 Patrol and the Prado is too dear and too small, the LC200 is too dear, and the swag of new large dual cab utes that all hover around $55K-$60K with similar specs to the Pajero/Prado/Patrol are very tempting.

But for 7 seats, and proper 4WD, huge passenger space, good torque and long range driving this is exceptional value.

Is the Pajero bigger than the Prado? I thought they are in the same category. I thought the GU Patrols are good, except the engine which is average. The GU8 just came out (look similar to the GU4 – GU7) and it has traction control, dsc/esp, rear diff lock and some other stuff I can’t remember.

Loved both Pajeros I have owned, NM & NT, But new model is overdue…….

What new model? Ain’t gonna happen.

      • ScottT

Not what I’ve heard from MMC, new Paj will happen and will stay hard core

  • Dominique Vøn Hütch

Off topic, but when’s that new Patrol coming out?

    • Tell It As It Is

GU8 just came out last month, with traction control, dsc/esp and other goodies. If you’re referring to the bloated monocoque soft roader Patrol that was released in the Mid East 2-3 years ago, it’s going to be released in Aus the end of this year or early next year. I am not entirely sure.

      • Dominique Vøn Hütch

Yeah referring to the bloated on that looks like an LX570.

  • Tell It As It Is

If the rrp drive away price is $58,990, then the “street price” should be couple of K’s cheaper unless it’s in demand. Else you’re not trying hard enough.

    • Bryan

You are probably right but the car yards have this thing called “dealer delivery and on roads” that they will usually tack on to the recommended retail price.  Personally I think it is a rip off because I’m sure that the manufacturer’s recommended retail price allows for the dealer’s profit margin too.  I would be very pleased if I managed to negotiate a drive away price that is less than the recommended retail!

While I’m at it, does anybody know when or if an all new Pajero is coming out?  As much as I like Pajeros, this basic design is about ten years old now and it is starting to show.  When Mitsubishi released the Platinum edition a few months ago I thought they might be trying to clear the last of their stock in preparation for a new model but that doesn’t seem to be the case…  A new model would give them the chance to throw some more sound deadening in the engine bay to help dull the horrible rattle from the diesel engine; it is the amount of engine noise in the cabin that has stopped me buying a Pajero to date!

      • ScottT

Probably another 2-3 years away Bryan, current model has been given NU designation, that’s tells us it will be around a couple of more years.

        • Tell It As It Is

          You mean NW.

          • ScottT

            Yep, my bad

  • salvatore

A Paj replacement is way overdue now. What the hell are Mitsu up to still flogging a 12 year old design. Mine is 2003 and I’ve been waiting for a new model since 2010 and theres nothing on the horizon yet. When Ford and Holden release their medium size, hard core, 7 seaters later this year I will seriously look at them – I’m sick of waiting and Mistu dont deserve my loyaty.
