2009 Toyota RAV4 upgrades
October 21, 2008 by Matt Brogan
Toyota has upgraded its nine-model RAV4 range with a package of active and passive safety features, as well as new technology and comfort features for 2009.
Safety features including active front-seat head restraints have been adopted as standard equipment across the RAV4 range, as has the inclusion of a driver’s knee airbag as standard equipment on seven models, and is available as an option on entry level four-cylinder CV.
CV can also be optioned with a safety pack that not only includes the driver’s knee airbag, but side and curtain airbags and dual zone climate control. All models now feature standard (switchable) ESP, Traction Control and Hill-Start Assist with automatic models also gaining Downhill Assist Control.
ZR6 and four-cylinder Cruiser L adopt an electro-chromatic interior rear-view mirror and CX6 gains climate control, whilst RAV4 Cruiser, Cruiser L, SX6 and ZR6 now have auto on/off headlamps.
Exterior changes include new designs for the headlamps, front fog-lamps, radiator grille, front and rear bumpers and rear combination lamps which is said to give the RAV4 a sharper appearance. As well, exterior mirrors now have built-in turn signal indicators.
Despite the added value of the new features for RAV4, the prices on most models have not changed. Full list pricing is expected soon.

Every dealer has a different price list.LOL.
Is this the partime 4WD thing that Top Gear got stuck in the snow.
Does anybody know the RRP for Toyota models?
Is there such a thing?
“Every dealer has a different price list.LOL.”
- Demographics? poor areas cut the price a bit…

C’mon Toyota, if Subie can make stability standard in all their vehicles, surely you can do the same. At least a congratulations is in order for pulling your heads (semi) out of your arses and making stability standard on all RAVs.
Looks like VW is keeping the b@st@ards honest and RAV4 has had to lift it’s game since the Tiguan has hit the market. So maybe RAV4 was overpriced before, now that all those extras have not increased the price ….and the yen is more expensive too.
Just took delivery of CV6 new model with all upgrades. Only Done 200k but soooo much quieter than 4 and extremely quick off mark.
looking forward to the next six months!
Got the ZR6 and soooo happy with choice.
Great car for practicality and performance wrapped into one. After reading many reviews some commented negatively on steering, GPS and Bluetooth. Personally all work perfectly. Its an SUV at the end of the day – not a sports car so cornering at high speed is not what the car is designed for.
My only criticism would be the slightly crashy ride. But then stiff is better than soft – no pun intended.
I just got the the new 2009 Rav4…. Love it except, what’s with the headrests!!!!!!!
The front seat headrests are absolutely useless! They are mounted so far forward they hurt and are dangerous!!
Would break you neck in an accident.
I went back to the dealer and they said that’s the way they are!!!
Good lord! I have to turn them backwards, now they are a mile from the head…
NOT HAPPY!
