Just ordered a new I30 SLX diesel. Did back to back test drive with Mazda 3 2.0ltr Diesel after looking at lots of others and I30 drove better and was quieter(not hard!) Not wrapped in rear end styling but ride, engine torque, interior design and standard features make up for it.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder,I have seen this car in the showroom and it is very nice, certainly better looking than a corolla.but it is inside where it shines, the dash is ultra modern and it has lots of standard tricks which would cost a fortune on other makes,if they were available.ie chilled glove box and i-pod connectivity.the doors, including the hatch, close with a quiet thunk and it all feels really solid. If the testers from motor mags.were given this car,and not told the brand, they would rate it highly.4.7litre/100k in 2008.

2007 and still no word on fuel efficiency!
What will it take for vehicle manufacturers to wise up and consumers to learn that oil dependency can't last forever. I WANT ELECTRIC!

Personally I don't understand why it is so hard to design a good looking vehicle? Of all of the Hyundai vehicles , the only one I like is the Sonata. Yes I am conservative but it is a sedan right!

The front of the i30 looks OK to me but the rest...

However I probably will buy one if it comes with automatic diesel and the price is reasonable.

They seemed to be on the right track with the Sonata, Santa Fe and maybe the Accent hatch. But after looking at the Elantra and this... they are going backwards.

Even the front is a bit oldschool, the back looks as though they tried to mimic the BMW 1-series but failed terribly, by over extending the lights.

Agreed!

the rear looks hideous! This car was designed in Germany, but the designers must have closed all the windows to the outside world and not taken notice of any of the German made cars driving around, because this is one seriously hideous car.

The front looks passable, but the rear? Looks like a design that Citroen thought up back in the 90s and decided not to use!
