Well good for you if you're able to appreciate an S3 over the cars you listed. I'd pick the Evo for cheap performance. It has a 4WD system just as good as Quattro. Audi still has great command when it comes to exterior design and interior quality, but when everything else is considered, they should be substantially cheaper than the equivalent BMW or Mercedes.

To expound more on my previous comment, consider the Volvo S40. It shares similar chassis components with the Ford Focus, and the XR5 also borrows the engine from them. You get just about the same thing but at a much cheaper price, so no justifiable reason to consider the 'Safe Swede' here. Going back to the Seat, people could go as far as performing front and rear surgery on the Exeo to make it look exactly the same as the previous A4.

AL J, I don't know about that...
Out of a WRX, evo X, BMW 135, and S3, I'd rather have the Audi S3, even if it has slightly less power then the competition. But got to say to A4, especially if you want the quattro version become ridiculously overpriced here in Australia!!

It could spell the downfall of Audi, at least in the compact car category. I saw this car in last week's Herald Sun and I thought it was just a prototype, and the final design will be less of the 4-circle brand. Besides the 3-Series, this gives even more reason not to buy an A4.

Dlr1 Says:
"Unlike their VW siblings Skoda, Seat can get the styling right."

Mate, at least Skoda have unique styling, they don't just exchange lights and grill on old generation audis, like seat did here!

OSU811, are you kidding mate?
The skodas at least look much more distinct, and much better in my opinion. While these are nothing more then old generation audi's with a deawoo like grill!! Also the build quality is much better on the skodas, then on the SEATS!!

I don't see SEAT coming to Australia anytime soon either, VW Oz are concentrating on establishing Skoda it ensure they don't have to bail out the company, like they did with SEAT in the 90s.
Even if they were to reintroduced SEAT to Oz, I don't a lot of vehicles in their lineup suited to the Australian car market.

To Bucket

Dont hold your breath waiting for a return of Seat to the Oz market. Given that VW Group has recently launched Skoda locally (Albiet to say with very dismal sales) it's probably fair to say that some heads in VW Local head office will roll pretty soon.
