Hummer Art – Wild West Style

October 17, 2008 by Matt Brogan

In an odd twist to a vehicle more commonly seen sporting chrome 22s or a set of Spinners, artist Matthew Harrison today unveiled his latest project simply entitled ‘Hummer’ at the fifth Zoo Art Fair in London.

The Hummer H3, complete with wooden wagon wheels, will be parked opposite the Royal Academy of Arts for the duration of the fair.

“Similar to Hummer, this sculpture really is like no other. As well as being built for action, the H3 certainly has a unique, iconic style. ”

Harrison combined the legendary off-road vehicle with ‘Wild West’ wooden wheels to create a sculpture that is a mixture of art, engineering and motoring, and for him at least, the crux of the Hummer is formed by both its being and its afterlife – what ever that means.

Not sure how it would handle, but I think the steering would feel a little wooden…

DMC Delorean from Back to the Future III anyone? This guy isn’t an artist, he’s a copy cat with too much money and time on his hands. Marty and the Doc did it first :)

That looks great. Much better than bling chrome wheels….

Probably a bit hard to tune the ABS & ESP, though. :)

Who cares about the Hummer, it was the pretty girl that caught my eye.
