I don’t have a problem with the 1.6ltr engine but it just seems so tiny for a car like this… then again 180 odd kw is pretty good but i can bet my last dollar that will only be for the jap spec, for us around 160kw would probably be more realistic. But anyway lets all hope it still has plenty of tuning potential like the sr20det

180kw from a 1.6 nice, Im guessing around the 220-240Nm, But agree how it makes the SR20 like prehistoric, thanks to technology. But then again its Anticipated…

I’d have no worries about Nissan producing torque from small displacement. The VQ25DET in the NM35 Stagea produces 410nM, with decent economy…all from 2.5 litres. If Nissan use the same recipe then thats 260ish newton metres from 1.6 litres. Makes the 202 from the S15 SR seem a bit lame huh?

I don’t mind the look of it. Sure its not the hottest looking thing out but i would still prefer this over the WRX hatch & Astra VXR. Id even take this over the Hyundai Genesis due to fact it doesn’t have a H badge :)

A 1.6L does sound a bit small. Any idea toruqe figures ? and im guessing its not going to be the most fuel efficient thing either

Not pretty. I do hope it looks nothing like these artist’s impressions, otherwise I’d agree with Supercujo: Hyundai should outsell this (except for diehard Nissan/Silvia fans).

gotta like Nissan’s sporty niche commitment. everyone else is backing off sports coupe, but nissan is taking huge advantage by releasing or planning to cover all 3 markets.

High – GTR
Medium – 370R
Low – S16

Just wish it was like the 90s, where Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi had entries in all 3 sporty segments..

although, Nissan is still lacking significantly in terms of sales in the high production vehicles… well thats what happens when most resources are used for the “medium-low” production vehicles like sports coupes.

Its a bodge up using all sorts of current Nissan design elements, they put Fuga tail lights on it ffs.
I’m just happy they are making it, and I’m sure when they do trot it out, that it will be *PRIMO* – much better than a Boxster…

Needs to be $35k AT THE BEGINNING, not 6 months latter when its reduced from $39,990 when it has not sold in the volume needed.

$40k is to much, *they* will just buy GTi’s. WRX’s [doofdoof] and EVO base for that much.

Side view looks ok but not sure about the fron though…1.6L boasting 180kW hmmm must be running at 20psi lol, bigger engine would have been a better choice IMO.

The engine is too small at 1.6l. Yes it might be tuned for 180kw, but it would be better with a 2.0l instead.

That would be more appealing as it would leave plenty of headroom for tuning.

Geez, talk about ugly! With the S13, 14 & 15 you could tell they were related (same dna), but this thing looks like their fat distant cousin! I’m not too keen on this odd-ball styling direction Nissan seems to be taking with the 370Z and now the new 200SX… Why couldn’t they make something that looks like a baby R35 Skyline…
