Skoda Superb Wagon gets ‘Outdoor’ treatment

The new Skoda Superb Outdoor, said to hold its own when going “beyond paved roads”, is the latest addition to the Skoda Superb wagon range.

The Skoda Superb Outdoor design package, appearing identical to the Skoda wagon spied in the snow earlier this year, includes new “robust” synthetic front and rear bumpers, wheel arch trim and doorsills, all finished in grey, as well as a larger front air intake and round fog lights.

The Czech brand’s modest take on the Volkswagen Passat Alltrack and the Audi A6 Allroad is available with both front- and all-wheel-drive but misses out on steel undertrays and any changes to suspension or ride height.

Despite the mere aesthetic tweaks, Skoda says the Superb Outdoor is the “perfect all-rounder for town and country” for those “with an active lifestyle”.

Skoda Australia’s Karl Gehling told CarAdvice the Outdoor is being considered for our market.

Currently in Australia there are seven Skoda Superb wagon variants starting at $40,990 for the 118kW/250Nm turbocharged petrol 1.8-litre four-cylinder 118TSI Ambition.

The 2012 Audi A6 Allroad is due to arrive in showrooms in the third quarter of this year a few months ahead of the Passat Alltrack, which is set to launch at the end of 2012.

I know this is probably the wrong place to ask this (and I have asked before), but why is your website soooo glacially slow and clunky. I’ve browsed it on a number of computers and a number of systems and connections, and I always give up and shutdown before I’ve even read a quarter of the articles I want to read, because it is so frustrating. Otherwise it is a fantastic site, the best Australian car review site there is, but it always let’s me down.

On a more appropriate note – I love the Superb wagon (not so hot on the hatch), and this new variant really floats my boat.

I have almost the exact same problem. When I click on a page it will take either 30 seconds to load or will stop working altogether. I have also tried this on other computers and the same thing happens.

        Interesting
no problem in Russia, loading time in Moscow – 5 sec
quite slow in Germany, loading time in Germany – 15 sec

Same here – seems to take an age to update ‘adverts’…..

    seems fine to me

I really like the Superb wagon. Too bad that ownership nightmares surrounding the 7 speed DSG gearbox and uncertainty on how long clutch packs last are putting me off. Maybe Skoda needs to drop the 8 speed torque converter auto into its range.

I think this wagon is very close to an E Class wagon, and all for much less money… Well done Skoda.

I have a hankering for Superbs, although I’d pass on this cross country thingy. I love Golfs, too. And BMWs, after having had a good fang in a ten year old 530i last week. And Broughams. And Monaros. And W124 Benzes. Sigh. So much to choose from. The Falcon’s gotta go.

      W124 Benz…! True classic

Did not get the badge “Scout” as that might affect Passat Alltrack sales…

Doesn’t get the increased ride height or underbody protection. Pushes me (a current Octy Scout owner) to the alltrack for my next car….

I think if they could chuck in additional third row of seats it would be a winner. Superbs has a very long cargo area so leg room won’t be an issue, don’t know about headroom but that would’nt be too hard to engineer because there’s a lot of space at the back to play with. Would be a better alternative to those hunkering SUV’s.
