Chevrolet Camaro US pricing announced

General Motors has announced official US pricing for the Australian-designed Chevrolet Camaro range.

The first customer orders have begun as of today, with production slated to begin by February 2009 at GM’s Oshawa, Ontario production facility rather than here in Australia.

The all-new 2010 Camaro line-up will begin at just $22,995 for the LS model which boasts a 3.6-litre V6 engine producing 224kW and 370Nm.

This is mated to a six-speed manual transmission as standard with an optional Hydra-Matic 6L50 electronically controlled six-speed automatic, with TAPshift control also available.

The flagship Camaro SS variant is priced from $30,995 and features a 6.2-litre LS3 V8 engine when equipped with the TR6060 six-speed manual transmission producing 315kW and 553Nm.

Six-speed automatic models receive the L99 V8 engine which is based on the LS3, but also incorporates GM's Active Fuel Management feature with final output figures expected to be around 299kW and 535Nm.

Whilst Australian sales have not yet been officially confirmed nor denied, the lack of a Camaro at the Australian International Motor Show likely suggests the model is not planned for local sales.
