Clarkson injured in Top Gear smash

October 13, 2008 by George Skentzos

During filming for the latest season of Top Gear, host Jeremy Clarkson has survived what he describes as his first serious accident in 31 years.

Clarkson injured in Top Gear smash

The British motoring presenter suffered minor injuries to his legs, hand and back following a high-speed head-on collision.

By all reports, it seems he will make a full and rapid recovery, far from the horrifying +500km/h crash which almost claimed the life of colleague Richard Hammond in 2006.

Clarkson has described his injuries to the press in true Top Gear style.

“My right index finger looked like a burst sausage, my left shin was fatter than my thigh and my back felt like someone had driven over it with a pile-driver.”

A ‘burst-sausage’ is also the phrase Clarkson also used to describe the HSV Clubsport R8, coincidence? Well yes, probably.

He probably wasn’t driving an R8 Clubsport at the time. The injuries would have been worse :)

I’m sure the anti-hoon brigade will jump onto this like a seagull onto a chip.

Inevitable really; but hey, he’s having fun.

See motorsport is safe, 1st injury in 31 years.

  4. Millatime says:

If that’s the extent of his injuries after a high speed head on collision, I want to know what he was in. My guess something German and expensive.

Shame we’ll never get to see it. Lucky for youtube eh!

  6. Frenchie says:

What was he driving to survive such a crash?

What was the other car involved and who was driving that?

    Not the Stig I hope.

  7. ZANDIT says:

Thats alright, if they need to replace him for a show or two, we can always send over Charlie Cox…….Hey, you never know, at least they might get his humour!!!!!

Huh? You make no sense… if it’s going to be posted on YouTube, then it has to be broadcast by the BBC first. They’ll do the same for Clarkson as what they did for Hammond, ala put on a 10 minute segment about the incident. It’ll be on Channel BT as per usual.

  9. acilk says:

If he had the accident with a member of the public while filming on public roads then they would probably need permission from the other person involved before they can show the crash.

  10. topgearfan says:

he was in a lorry going 50+ mph into a brick wall.
