Top Gear Australia episode 4 preview
October 13, 2008 by George Skentzos
The next episode of Top Gear Australia airs in just a few short hours, but in the meantime here is a preview of what you can expect next week.
For episode four, Steve Pizzati drives the most powerful car ever built in Australia – the HSV W427 at Holden’s Lang Lang proving grounds.
Warren Brown and his indigenous tracker Diesel attempt a trek across Western Australia on a horse whilst Cox and Pizzati tackle the challenge in a TRD HiLux fitted with a Follow Me GPS.
The star in a bog standard car is Jack Thompson, most notable recently for his role in the new epic film ‘Australia’.
Finally, the team tries their hand at lawn bowls Top Gear style, rolling a bunch of brand new Holden Astra’s down a ramp towards the jack.
Top Gear Australia airs Monday nights at 7:30pm on SBS.

Yes ..tip for you SBS…bring back UK top gear !!!
I was in the audience for Top Gear Australia show four (on air next Monday night) and it was FANTASTIC! The guys are really hitting their straps now which is amazing after only FOUR eps. There were about 250 of us and there was roars of laughter at the bowls story. Real Top Gear stuff – but with Australia all over it. There’s lots to get excited about with the show and good things take a while to develop. Better than all the other crap television car shows and the guys are getting better at expressing their opinions of cars. Give them a chance!!!!
Yes, the 1st episode was a little embarressing but i think they’re starting to find their feet now. Just remember, the early series of TGUK were’nt that slick. At least the production qualities are on par with UK version. I reckon it will take awhile for the guys to really gel as TV presenters since they are novices at it. To those knockers out there, you gave the UK version a long time to get it right (me included) so why not give the aussie version the same chance?
#3 was a great improve over the first 2 epsisodes.
The only real cringe now is charlie cox and the writing. The show doesnt have to be hilarious just really well scripted, shot & entertaining.
Correct as many of you are, the 02 season of TGUk was marginal to say the least but then they didnt have a bench mark. The pre-rebirth version of TGUK was crap so clarkson’s 2002 re-invention of the show started off without any real peers. Having said that, I reckon our TGA could have been a lot better straight out of the box as they had models of success to emulate. I dont think they should be copying verbatim though unless the franchise states they have to.
Lets hope its turned a corner.
Dear SBS,
Please stop funding Top Gear Australia, instead use the money to allocate more shows of Top Gear UK.
Thank you.
