Ferrari online auction funds to go to earthquake victims

Ferrari is set to host an online auction with proceeds dedicated to the victims of Italy's recent earthquakes that have struck near the Prancing Horse's Maranello home.

The auction, taking place next week, will see an ultra-rare Ferrari 599XX Evolution valued at over $1.3 million, a complete Formula One V8 engine, racing suits and helmets donated by Ferrari's F1 drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, along with numerous items of memorabilia from works racing cars from previous years all go under the hammer in the name of charity.

A selection of items from the Ferrari Store, including watches, will also be included in the collection.

Ferrari says as soon as news had broken about the earthquakes hitting northern Italy, Ferrari clients and collectors from around the world spontaneously contacted Ferrari to offer contributions enabling the company to provide support to those most affected.

In the days before the auction the Ferrari website will have a section dedicated to the event, so gather your Euros and get your bids in.
