The new Porsche 911 GT3 has been caught by our spy photographers driving on public roads in Germany free of any camouflage.
While the new Porsche 991 911 Turbo and Turbo Cabriolet have been seen out testing before, this is our best look yet at the track-focused GT3 model.
The car’s sleeker tail-lights and front driving lights, double rear wing, wider guards, revised front bumper with larger air intakes, updated side skirts, central twin exhaust pipes and bigger single-locking-nut wheels all clearly show the new car is an evolution from the last of its kind, the 368kW Porsche 997 911 GT3 RS 4.0.
The new 991 GT3 is believed to be lighter than the outgoing 1360kg 997 GT3 with more power extracted from its flat-six boxer motor. Gearbox speculation remains rife with suggestions of everything from a six-speed manual, seven-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch PDK automatic transmission – perish the thought.
The new German track weapon is likely to appear at the upcoming 2012 Paris motor show in September.
