New Renault Alpine Concept leaked

The long awaited Renault Alpine Concept has been leaked ahead of its premier at this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix in Monte Carlo.

The visually stunning Alpine Concept, with strong links to the Renault DeZir concept car seen at the 2010 Paris motor show, is intended to mark 50 years since the original Alpine A110.

The much rumoured about Alpine A110-50 concept is thought to based on the same tube-framed chassis as the Renaultsport Megane Trophy racecar with the mid-mounted 3.5-litre V6 tweaked to push out around 290kW and 420Nm.

The likelihood of the concept becoming a production reality is still unconfirmed but considering difficulties in the past with the car said to be based on a Nissan 370Z platform in 2008 then declared dead in 2009, and with questions surrounding costs and a consumer market, Renault may call upon the support of the Renault-Nissan Alliance.

The Formula One Monaco Grand Prix kicks off May 24, 2012.
