Turbin – True Mike Simncoe was the Chief Designer at Holden for the VT and the Monaro. However; by the time The design of the VE had been “locked in” Mike Simcoe had moved on to be Head of Design for the Asia Pacific Region before being Promoted to his current position as GMs International Head of Design

The VE was actually designed by Peter Hughes under the direction of Holdens current Chief Designer Richard Felazzo. Hughes also helped Design the TT-36 Torana and Efijy Concept Cars.

Peter Robinson wrote a book about the Research and Developmnet of the VE called Autobiography… in it he mentions Mike Simcoe but he gives credit for the Desogn of the VE to Peter Hughes.

There is also a behind the scenes DVD on the VE called “Billion Dollar Baby” in which they interview those involved in the project and Mike Simcoe isn’t on it.

The thing is Hughes also helped design the VE Maloo and says he took inspiration from the VU HRT LE 427 Maloo Concept which Simcoe Designed… so how could he get it so wrong with the VE?

Yep, coupe designed by and 09 sedan refreshed by Aussie and ex Holden design boss Michael Simcoe also responsible for the Monaro, the VE and the Elfins amongst many other things.

They make cars with their target audience being black rappers whose idea of taste means wearing $500 tracksuits to gala events.

This car will fit in fine in QLD.

Nope the supercharged engine can’t be easily modified for RHD due to all the extra plumbing.

At least this is different and you won’t mistake it for anything else. I’d like to see one in the flesh before judging it.

Caddies havent changed for years now. What we see as bold and fresh is old news in the styling over the pond.
It will stand out on our roads as much as the 300c did when it first arrived. Hope it’s half as good.

They need to lift the build quality first before it becomes a contender rather than pretender. PRicing will be the big question, nad with the Aussie on a dive like present, well…. Looks are polarising, which is fine. Means it will stand out and your friends will either be envious of you or laugh. Either way they’ll see you.
