The Skoda Citigo Rally concept will headline the Czech manufacturer’s display at the 2012 Worthersee Tour in Austria.
The Citigo Rally concept looks the part thanks to its massive front bumper and wheel arches, bonnet vents, roof-mounted air intake and rear spoiler. Drawing inspiration from Skoda’s renowned rally cars, it also features low-profile tyres wrapped around forged 18-inch white alloy wheels and a centrally positioned exhaust pipe.
There’s no word yet on any enhancements to the powertrain of the Citigo Rally concept, although we expect Skoda’s engineers may have tinkered under the bonnet given the most powerful Citigo production car produces a modest 55kW/95Nm from its 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine and takes 13.2 seconds to sprint from 0-100km/h.
Joining the Citigo Rally concept at Worthersee will be the Citigo DJ Car. The DJ Car concept has been widened behind the B-pillars to create an open stage for a DJ inside the car. The music mixed in the Citigo DJ Car will be played on centre stage at night during the Tour through a 100,000-watt sound system.
The Skoda Citigo launched in the Czech Republic in October 2011 and is being rolled out across Europe this year. While its sister car, the Volkswagen Up!, has been confirmed to launch in Australia in the final quarter of this year, Skoda Australia is yet to announce if it will introduce the sub-light Citigo to our market.
The Skoda Citigo concepts will join the Audi Q3 Red Track concept at Worthersee this week.
