Well FRONTMAN that's a mistake based on not having all the facts (done that myself once or twice).
Actually was a private sale.. Seeing as i had emailed photo's of the vehicles (in build in our workshop) showing some of the huge amount of accesoires we fitted (from my camera phone, no-one else ever does this)the customer was good to go in ten minutes delivery. Also i am mobile on the net thru wi-fi.
I blog anywhere, anytime...
Also who is 'dingo'? have seen this often? You can tell by my'fingerprints' (sentence structure, cadence etc) my writing style is pretty unique...
FRONTMAN, with my volume/gross ratio you would never let me go...

ROad to the sale has always been the "showroom strategy" whatever you call it, same as six point sell, Bulls & Peacocks, etc etc..... All the different trainers want to call it something different, but it is all the same.
If you are happy with who you are and where you are the only possible signals that you can give your customers are ones of a relaxed, friendly & trustworthy person. If you are striving to get more, they can sense this (desire is not a bad thing but keep it in check). When I mentioned standings this morning, it was NOT to infer that you were somehow inferior, it was to let you know that yes I have been there, and have been fortunate enough to move to a different level. Better? I might think so, but others don't, doesn't matter. The important thing is, this industry will consume more than it's fair share of those that work in it. If you don't stand back and look at the bigger picture once in a while the fun goes out of it. That is the bassis behind my drawing attention of the machine consuming all. Keep your eyes and ears open ;-)
As I have said, nothing from me is to be taken personally, I don't personally know people on this forum so the comments are general or smart A'd.
It is always enjoyable to have a debate and I'll swing by these forums from time to time, so if you are looking for someone to ease the tension with, just bait me. If I'm in the mood I'll bite.

Road to a sale is now a Showroom Strategy
Self preserved standings are relevant, you are what you think you are and you are how you act with others.
Creating a positive self image is more than half the battle.
This industry to me is 80% chemistry and 20% process. Once you have the relationship the sale is easy.

No not semi retired, gainfully employed full time and loving life. Yes the terminology is old, but the system remains the same. If you believe that the "road to the sale" is a not the way to do things now and that you don't have to worry about burning heads then it would be interesting to see how you go about your business.

They are old terms, sure. This is an old business.
Some of us have been around long enough to have benefited from seeing all the changes come through. Though I would recomend that they are not peculiar to the Auto industry and are still commonly used these days.

As for your standing versus mine, again throught the tyranny of time I have learnt that self percieved standings account for Jack! and the way some others see you menas even less. What you will learn eventually is that as long as you are comfortable with where you are the rest gets a whole lot easier. Hence you will notice that whilst I have quipped (in a smart a'd way) I have never attempted to try personal attack or boasting. It doesn't really matter.

Semi Retired are you, doing some freelance consulting? Thank god the old dinosaurs are falling off the perch. With old school talk like road to the sale, burning heads,Punted, ETC
I’ve heard it a MILLION times before.
I too was raised in the school of hard knocks, and I still some how managed not to be a jerk.
Thank you for your insights yesterday, I would have enjoyed reading your comments more if you could hold back from the slander.
You are right, you are not worthy. Sounds like my standing is much higher in different ways :)

DanMan Says:
October 1st, 2008 at 4:42 pm
Sorry was away delivering

Hmm Council tenders, great order taking, product prostitution. Sorry not a personal Gybe, but if it wasn't and you only took from 3:15 to 4:42 to leave the dealership, deliver and return on a private delivery, I would've punted you. But then it was that sort of standards that got me where I am.
Salesman as for being of similar standing, well let me just say that I have done my time in dealerships, the only part that hasn't been on my slip was scrubber and owner. Today I am far more relaxed and don't have to worry about burning heads.
