    $31,990.00 for 80Kw and 240Nm?.
Must have the world’s best chrome extension and racing stripes!

  • http://faster DanMan

    Shouldn’t that LeMons…
    sorry couldn’t help it…

  • http://faster DanMan

That’s about 35k on the road… Any other car have less performance for the money?

Maybe not but it has great fuel economy and for most people this counts the most today…

  • http://skyline The Salesman

    Mercedes Smart,

But even then the price is $24,990.00 plus ORC.
    3-cylinder in-line engine 52kW and 92Nm,

‘Maybe not but it has great fuel economy and for most people this counts the most today…’

    Incorrect according to NAADA.
    1) Price
    2) Styling
    3) The brand
    4) Resale
    5) Fuel efficiency
    6) Reliability
    7) Vehicle Dynamics
    7) Engine performance
    8) Safety features
    9) Number of seats
    10) Exhaust emissions

    Hasn’t changed in ten years…

You can buy an economy car for a lot less, add racing stripes and a chrome exhaust, you can even make a limited edition badge for it. I would have expected something more exciting from a 207….

Looking at the specs, it\’s essentially a 207 GTi with a 1.6HDi diesel engine. It has all the same \’additions\’ the GTi has over a standard 207 such as leather/alcantara seats, folding mirrors, dual zone climate control, rear park assist, directional headlights, ESP etc. It\’s still expensive for what it is.

You would have to be very French, and very mad, to even think that this oddball marketing exercise is a good buy.

  • Cupid Stunt aka No Name

Does seem rather a lot of dosh for a little car, Sure someone out there will buy it and it would be a pretty rare sight on Aussii roads with only 75 of them.

  • Mac

These were made as a celebration of winning LeMans. Peugeot thought they were going to win the race and when Audi beat them they got stuck with them and had to call them a celebration of the race series.

  • Reckless1

Having just watched Top Gear, my teeth are bleeding from the pain of the overacting, but this car would go on the “What were they thinking” wall no worries.

Add a red paint blotch to a 15,000 car and double the price. Nice work if you can get it :)

Haha, just like the no-brain Geelong supporter who tattooed a Geelong victory on his arm and they lost.

  • Mac

Hey – some of us Geelong supporters are still crying. Please be kind.

  • Golfschwein

True, Reckless? Oh dear. I know of 3 brothers who had a really lame “Brothers in Arms” tattoo done on each of their shoulders. The first brother was lucky. The tattoos for the remaining two brothers read, “Broters in Arms”

    Which would be worse?

  • Golfschwein

Sorry, I made no mention whatsoever about the Peugeot.

Before I do that, Mac, I feel for you. But I was happy for Geelong last year and happy for Hawthorne this year.

Okay, this li’l Peugeot thing. Well, it’s chokkas with goodies, safety gear and Peugeot styling panache and diesel know-how. It’s not for me, but 75 people are going to buy one and I’ll be happy for them too.

To the Salesman, the Smart is $19,990 on the road but at least the Smart serves a purpose – perfect city car.

  • Cupid Stunt aka No Name

Golfie – you’re worthy of an award. Your humour remains funny long after you’ve logged off.

Yep the Pugs a nice one, can’t do with the stripes though.

  • http://skyline The Salesman

    Alex,

I fear you missed the point. I know the Smart prices and I went for the most expensive one. Please check the Smart website for pricing details. I was looking for a car with less power and a similar price, car you think of another?

  • Golfschwein

The Salesman, I can think of another – my Golf 1.9 TDi. Does it honestly, troolley woolley matter?

It’s a diesel! The last thing on my mind when the torque comes surging through at two-and-a-half-thou as I take a line of Camry Nannas on the left side after the lights go green is that it only has 77 kw.

You’d never know it. Other factors come into play during the undertaking manouevre that add to the excitment, such as my use of Romsey Quints’ time-honoured feeler gauge technique that always espoused 0.0015″ as a good margin to keep between yours and the other cars. If that doesn’t wake ‘em up, the diesel fumes will see to it.

I venture that this 207 is an ideal city car.

    Golfschwein

This is a Le Mon’s special edition, to celebrate diesel powered endurance racers. I would have expected something a little more exciting from Peugeot with the power plant.
Your VW has 10Nm more and 3Kw less and two more doors for similar money. Back to my point, can you find a car with less power for the same money?

  • SteveC

The VW also has no where near the handling ability of the Pug.

Though, I will say, this is just another marketing ploy.

    SteveC

  • Golfschwein

Yes. My Golf. 77 kilowatts and $31,990 with the sunroof. Bingo. Oops – metallic paint extra.

And Heaven Forbid that a manufacturer would celebrate competition success by flogging a limited edition passenger car with a fraction of the power and torque enjoyed by the winning vehicle.

Cripes! Does anyone else do this?

  • http://skyline The Salesman

For $31,990.00 my preference would be something a little more exciting to drive.
When I read LeMan’s special addition I got a little excited, now I see they just had a crap load of accessories they couldn’t sell so they slapped them on and called it a limited edition.
I was not looking for you to agree, I obviously struck a nerve with my opinion. Not a personal attack.
I believe the savvy consumer is capable of deciding if this represents good value.

  • Golfschwein

Sorright, Salesman, not upset. I was just answering your question on the price/kilowatts thing and goading you none-too-subtly to give a little Live and Let Live.

And you have. I, too, believe that the savvy consumer is capable of deciding if this represents value.

  • PUGLOVER

    Hey guys,

Don’t dis the pug!!! If this came out 4 months ago, I would’ve bought it instead of my petrol 207XE. It’s got the same features as the XE but with sexy striping and hot 17″ Alloys – not to mention the fact that it uses half the feul the XE does. If it had a panoramic sunroof, I’d be sold! I do love the view of the moon at night!!

I’m thinking of trading my XE in for this baby. Seriously, what do you guys think? I need some advice.

    Cheers,
    Puglover
