Maybe I’m the only one, but the new 6th gen Golf looks like shiznit. I much prefer the 5th gen to the 6th. Theyre basically giving them away down at the dealers. Me gonna go get one.

Forgot to mention I was comparing GTI with GTI. Perhaps the standard Golf is shorter? Bigger intercooler in the GTI perhaps?

I’d read that too, but last night I did a “nose to nose” comaparo (obviously using photos) and when you measure the wheel arch from front to back, the VI has the same dimension from arch to nose, but the V is much shorter.

The VI also seems to have a flatter bonnet, more like an Audi, versus the steeper slope of the V.

Might be just picture illusions ?

Bring the Touran to Australia instead, it’s got slightly more room than the golf plus it looks better. Volkswagen should bring the lupo to Australia as well to help save the planet.

For once I agree with car hater.

Looks more like a bloated Polo to me, with badging to fool the masses, but it is difficult to judge size from the pictures. It also looks quite low for a standard car.

It is very different from the Golf VI – the MkVI has longer nose overhang than MkV, and this car does not. This car also has a window ahead of the mirror a la many current vehicles in the market. Much more roof curve than normal MKVI, so it really is quite a different model.

No point in bringing it to AU, IMO. If you want more space than Golf, go Caddy Life.

I would check your sources there. You actually see very few of these odd-looking Golf Plus’ on the roads in Europe.

I don’t get the concept of these vehicles, being only slighty bigger than the vehicle they are based on, what is the point? Buy the wagon or if available the MPV version.
