Four-door Lambo almost confirmed
September 22, 2008 by George Skentzos
Speculation surrounding the first two teaser images of the new Lamborghini concept due to be revealed at the Paris motor show has been all but confirmed.
Industry insiders from Automotive News report that a source within Lamborghini has confirmed plans for a four-door sports car to compete against the forthcoming Aston Martin Rapide and Porsche Panamera.
This supports our earlier speculation that the concept would be a front engined, coupe-styled, four-door model to appeal to a broader range of luxury sports car buyers.
The source has also stated that the concept is almost ready for production and is likely to feature an Audi-sourced powerplant.
The engine will be smaller than the current 5.0-litre V10 engine in the Gallardo, however not down on power with a direct-injection, twin turbocharged unit slotting neatly behind the front axle for ideal weight distribution.
Lamborghini plans to build around 3,000 units a year of the new car, the same number that Aston Martin plans to build of its Rapide.
This move is hardly surprising, with Lamborghini thriving under the direction of Stephan Winkelmann, boasting a pre-tax profit of 47.1 million Euros in 2007.

Woooooowwwww
Would like to see one of them in my dream garage :)
Was only a matter of time before Lambo played catchup with Aston and Porsche. Next Ferarri maybe??
Lamborghini is not going in the right direction. Whats with 4 door sports car man. If its a 4 door sports car, its go to be a EVO X :)
If it looks even half as good as the Aston Martin Rapide, it will sell.
The Porsche 4-door looks atrocious and probably won’t sell that well.
From what I can see in these small teaser pics, the 4-door lambo could be the winner!
now make it $35k so we can all have one plz
Funny… I suddenly have an overwhelming want for a (dare I say it) family! I think the Porsche will sell very well but I dont want one in the same way I want this, a Rapide or a Quattroporte.
Well, Porsche still is ahead discovering new markets, as the cayenne was a great succes. Ferrari is now thinking of a SUV, too. Lambo already had SUV´s long time ago, when porsche didn´t think of it at all. In the end the clients will decide whether a car will be a succes or not, the manufacturer can only do his best to build a solid, wicked car. I am looking forward to seeing that car.
Maybe it will be a success story like cayenne. If I want to drive fast, I would prefer a car with 2 doors.
Hot car!
