Mitsubishi teaser confirmed as new Colt
September 20, 2008 by George Skentzos
It seems our initial instincts were correct, with the unnamed Mitsubishi teaser all but confirmed to be the new Colt.
Leaked screen captures from an official Mitsubishi marketing video plainly suggest the darkened teaser does in fact depict the Colt which now shares the Lancer’s front-end styling.
Competing speculation suggested the teaser could be a production version of a new Crossover model; however the rounded headlights shared with the Colt and teaser image are a dead giveaway.
These new images also reveal significant revisions to the taillights and rear bumper.
The car will make its official debut at the Paris Motor Show, with Australian sales likely to follow in 2009.

what happened to the rear,in fact what happened to the all thing it looks hideous the colt is a a soft round body with a now sharp nose it doesn work
mazda 2?
mitsu have placed different rear-ends on the 3door and 5door (the 3door getting the better looking one)
and unless we are going to get the 3door when this model is due to be released, it comes at no suprise we get the less attractive one.
either way i still like it…
The current Colt shares a lot with its distant cousins the Smart & baby Merc but this major external facelift gives it its own identity.
I expect that not only the European 2 door model shown will get this treatment.
Unfortunately Mitsubishi often seems to unjustly get a bashing from ignorant people who have no idea how good Mitsubishi cars really are.
The current Colt is the most fuel effecient car in its class with a cutting edge drivetrain rarely seen in its price range.
This refresh for the Colt gives it the new Mitsubishi “family look” and with this treatment the appearance is more mature and purposeful.

“mazda 2?”
Nah, looks nothing like the Mazda2. Besides, the Mazda2 will continue to be a leader in this class (hurry up with the MPS2 Mazda!).
Totally agree with O, yu’ve got this distinct, brutal nose, with a vanilla flavoured end. The two don’t match at all!
@ Steven A,oh please we’re talking about styling, not the performance. You can have the world’s best driving car, the best fuel efficiency, but if it looks like a dog’s breakfast, well, no thanks!
If you were able to vomit cars then this would be the carrot you did not know you ate. Allan D, yes i can see Mazda 2 on the side angle.
It is terrible, a bit like a train wreak, you know you shouldn’t look but you cant help yourself.

We know they make good cars Steven, it is still but ugly.
Gotta agree with THE SALESMAN…..its actually butt fugly! Extremely so!
I KNOW…COLT VRS BARINA VRS GETZ VRS RIO…..THE” BUTT UGLY” COMPARISON…PLS LEAVE THE MAZDA 2 OUT OF IT.
i think this will look nice in real life… and in a different colour.
Ralliart (if it comes) will be interesting……
Well I dont think it looks like a Mazda 2, but if this is what its gonna look like Id definitely prefer a Mazda 2.
I picked up a Ralliart Colt brand new for $17990+ORC recently and think it was a fantastic bargain.
Fuel economy is averaging close to the claimed 6.7L/100km which is amazingly frugal for a 1.5L turbo.
Ridiculously fun on challenging roads too.
Hey Adam, I am looking at a Ralliart Colt as well. That is a sweet deal you got, what dealer did you buy it from?
zzzzzzzzzzzz…..oh, new Colt…zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
the headlights look kind a sad
oh no… mitsubishi.. what have you done? changed a cute car into something.. weird! Noooooooooo
looks the alfa miTo
kind of cute from the side
I wonder if they will bring this one out in convertible form…
When will it come to Australia?
