Racing Evo X for Britcar Series
September 16, 2008 by George Skentzos
Mitsubishi Motors UK has announced plans to compete in the increasingly popular Britcar Championship with a racing version of its latest Lancer Evolution X.
The car will boast the trademark red and chrome Ralliart livery with SVA UK managing director and former BTCC regular James Kaye behind the wheel.
The car is being built by ADR Motorsport, the same team responsible for two Mitsubishi’s currently competing in the British Rally Championship.
“Mitsubishi UK has not been involved with circuit racing for many years, so this new initiative is a great opportunity for us. Subject to the level of interest from competitors, we are also hoping to announce a one-make race-series for the Evolution X soon.”
The team expect the two-litre turbocharged engine to produce around 300kW through the Evo’s capable all-wheel drive system.
What is not clear though is whether the team will opt for the manual transmission or SST gearbox.
The racing Evo will make its competitive debut at the Britcar 24-hour race at Silverstone with two other drivers who are yet to be named.

Nice looking photochop.
I understand this is an MMC UK initiative (probably ‘permitted’ by MMC Japan) for the brit tarmac series but it’s about time they got back onto the world stage in WRC.
I wish the Australian touring car series included nice cars like this that people actually buy. V8 supercars = boo!
yeah the taxi cup is out of date. we need something similar to the british touring car championship
cant remember the last time i even watched a v8 race
Add “super” to the name and it turns out a debarcle.
Happenned to rugby league and it happenned to the group A touring cars!
And all we get to watch race are big fat boats try and lumber around a racetrack thinkin they are propping up a local car industry….
