Nissan Altima final teaser (Maxima replacement)

Nissan has released the final teaser for the upcoming Nissan Altima, which will be unveiled at the New York motorshow next week.

The company has taken what has become a rather common approach by manufactures, in releasing small bits of information in build up the vehicle’s unveiling. This video is now the fifth in a series of Altima videos which slowly showcased more and more of the vehicle.

The importance here is that the Nissan Altima is very likely for an Australian debut, replacing the struggling Maxima. The Altima, which is technically a medium-sized car instead of a large (like the Maxima), will provide a good entry point into the heavily contested segment in Australia.

There’s also potential for this vehicle to form the entry for next year’s V8 supercar championship (coupled to the petrol 5.0-litre V8 out of the upcoming Patrol), given it’s the right fit in terms of size and audience.

Although the name is still to be confirmed if the model was to make it to the Australian market, its local potentials are well timed, given its larger sibling, Nissan Maxima, has struggled in the large car segment. Only 1923 buyers forked out for a Maxima last year and so far this year it has claimed just 3.2 percent marketshare in a segment dominated by Holden Commodore, Ford Falcon and Toyota Aurion.

We suspect the vehicle will be launched in North American before year’s end with a potential Australian release in the first half of next year.
