Eric Clapton’s one-off Ferrari SP12 EPC caught on video

Footage showing the custom-built Ferrari SP12 EPC made for multi-Grammy-award winning guitarist and Ferrari fan Eric Clapton has been released.

Essentially, the kind-hearted and skilled lads who run Ferrari’s Special Projects program used a Ferrari 458 Italia as a base car, added a body inspired by the 1970s Ferrari 512BB (Berlinetta Boxer) and called it the Ferrari SP12 EPC - Special Project 12 Eric Patrick Clapton.

The Ferrari SP12 EPC is said to have cost the 66-year-old triple Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame inductee £3 million ($4.47million). Although sources say Clapton wanted a V12 engine fitted to replicate the original 512BB, the larger unit simply wouldn’t fit, and the bespoke supercar retains the 458 Italia’s 4.5-litre 425kW/540Nm V8.

Clapton will be able to add this to his list of Italian supercar metal, having previously owned a Ferrari 250 GT Lusso, Ferrari Enzo, and 599 Fiorano.
