Audi Australia today released details of the brand spanking new Audi S5. The S5 is truly a rare gem amongst its competitors in the high-performance coupé category. Its uniqueness comes from its V8 FSI technology and quattro permanent four-wheel drive.
Yes its a four-wheel-drive matched to V8 power giving the S5 an enormous 260kW (354 bhp) of power (A5 gets 195 kW) and 440Nm of torque (A5 gets 330Nm)! Apart from raw power, the tuned sports suspension and high-performance brakes are also part of the S5 package.
0-100 time is achieved in just 5.1 seconds. Audi says that the V8 naturally derives its enormous power potential from the innovative FSI direct injection technology with high compression and optimum fuel mixture formation. The Audi S5 comes standard with a six-speed manual gearbox with a short throw action that Audi says will make every gear change a pleasure.
The quattro permanent four-wheel drive is setup with 40 percent power to the front and 60 percent power to the rear axle. Furthermore, its not just a simple AWD system, the quattro system adapts very quickly to the current driving conditions and constantly delivers the ideal distribution of drive torque.
The Audi S5 comes with ESP (electronic stabilisation programme), thankfully though thie can be deactivated in two stages whenever the driver wishes to exploit the potential of the Audi S5 to the full on a suitable stretch of road.
