The car looks absolutely stunning. I will be one of the first in line to purchase this beauty. This car will not be harmful for the environment with the Active Fuel Management technology that GM now offers. While Global Warming seems to be more the discussion on this page then the Camaro itself, I would like to credit GM for their fine work in creating a car that has style, class and of course horsepower that lives up to the Chevy Camaro heritage. While anticipating this car’s production for many years now, I am glad to see it finally hitting the market this year. And for all you guys who think that this car is second to the Chrysler wanna-be or the Ford Mustang, I can’t wait to see you at the light… Pink slips anyone?

Just reading the latest ed of Unique cars………..the new Challenger right hand hook in Australia,$195,000 ,evil looking car but come on!!!!!!!!

The Supersnake, horsepower heaven with over 500kws but 300k………

What would we expect this to cost us ?

These cars are all ultra cool and fast but there are too many other choices in that price range thanks. Maybe wait and import a left hand hook one in a few years maybe the only way some of us can enjoy this retro muscle stuff !

Bret, with the limp home mode, what actually gets shut off? Injectors and spark I’d think but do the valves stay open so the remaining 3 cylinders aren’t compressing air?

If DOD worked that well, Falcon could have had it years ago.
Oh, thats right, the Falcon 6 cyl has had cylinder deactivation since 1999, however it isn’t used for fuel economy but for limp home engine cooling when the radiator or a hose has dumped ALL of the coolant.

I share that opinion No Name. I’m not nearly convinced cylinder deactivation is of any use. Look at CA’s four car comparo (Falcon, Accord, Aurion, Commodore). The heavier, torquier Falcon had the best fuel economy, despite the Accord’s DOD tech.

Ford Falcon G6E: 9.8L/100km
Holden Commodore Calais V6: 10.9L/100km
Toyota Aurion Presara: 10.5L/100km
Honda Accord V6 Luxury: 10.6L/100km

If it’s possible to shutoff the deactivation, I’d like to see CA do a tank with two Accords in convoy, one switched on and one off. That would give a good indication of what difference it makes.

DI sounds like it’ll give much better results.

& yet still, u think that We should just drop a few Nuclear bombs at say INDIA, & Asia & wipe out about over 2 Billion People off this planet. Fuken FOOL. First of all How much greenhouse gases will u produce dropping those few Nuc’s. Tons & tons.

And Have u even considered, how much Green house gases are & have been produced By the Worlds Tanks, Army Trucks, F15-F18(etc) fighter gets, Navy ships, bombs, missiles etc. That have been involved in every War ever since the early 1900’s. & the continuing Wars.

Did u know that After the attacks of 9/11 on the WTC. all american airlines were grounded From September 11 – 14. & in those 3 days the American climate changed. The days were on average 3 Degrees Celsius Cooler & the nights were 2 degrees Warmer

Now wow that might not seem like alot. But over a While it might Make a difference. And do u know about how the American & some other countries Climate is controlled By the Contrails & Chemtrails. (DO SOME RESEARCH)

Now u might wana know some facts & do Some research before typing some Dimwitted remarks, about reducing Earths population, Just so u Can live in peace, With ur ugly little Prius.

Now as for this Camaro, Brilliant looking car, U can tell it will do well in the America, Hopefully us Aussies can get some RHD ones over here, (hope those comments about RHD ones seen at Melbourne airport are Correct)

Great car – sad its unlikely to be RHD esp after you Aussie worked your arses off on it.

Just my opinion – but cylinder deactivation, yeh great, but all really means is yer engines too big in the first place. Yeh I know I’ll get slated, but what the heck.

I am, of course, aware of that.

The point is that for every gas guzzler GM sells they have to sell many many more super economy cars. And these economy cars are not as profitable.

It makes it tough for GM, Ford and Chrysler. The price of the gas guzzlers will have to go up substantially to subsidise the smaller cars or they will just stop making them.

Also the CAFE standards will only get tougher as time passes.

Oh, one more thing, don’t shoot the messenger, it’s not my policy.

Lets hope that the Cylinder deactivation is going to acheive some good numbers than what it has done to the Accord V6. Claims are hard to be trusted until tested.

Rather than, climate change issues I think its more on the consumption issue, I agree with the Devil that humans do little to climate change compared to the nature’s methane from the ocean and all that, and from the recent (not so recent major eruptions). In these days consumption of natural resources is a big thing, more people, less land, less oil, less water, and eventually less food. people need to be more efficient with what they have or plan to have. Governments are already enforcing things already.

i think SamR is refering to the CAFE regulations being brough in by the US government that stipulates a minimum MPG rating for car manufacturers. What SamR seems to be not understanding is that minimum is averaged accross the manufacturers ENTIRE range, not just individual cars. So its not that any car that does less then 30 MPG can’t be sold (or whatever the figure is) its that the average of a manufacturers ENTIRE FLEET has to not be less then 30 MPG.

With the chevy volt coming in, along with so many smaller cars in their lineup such as the cobalt, chev will have no problem meeting this target. So pull your head in SamR

that is such a gorgeous car, I’d sacrifice something else greenhouse gas producing to be able to drive it. Perhaps no cabbage for the duration? It reminds me of the first (I think) camaro from either the late sixties or early seventies – the low slung one, generally black. Exactly what (IMO) a muscle car should look like. If it makes you feel any better, even though we should do what we can to help, it wont really matter what we do when China is building factory after factory and now cars are being used over there more, and on top of that we have people in the sub continent turning to the cheap cars rather than scooters etc…just the sheer numbers there dwarf anything positive we can do, though its gotta start somewhere.
