2012 BMW M5 Ring Taxi: Photos

The BMW M5 Ring Taxi is back at work at the infamous Nurburgring Nordschleife, but sadly without the services of Germany's fastest woman, Sabine Schmitz. Schmitz is now driving Porsches with Frikadelli Motorsport, which her partner’s family owns.

BMW started the BMW Ring Taxi in 1986 and to date has collected more than 90,000 fares from Ring passengers over the years.

The latest M5 Ring Taxi was spotted in Alpine White paint with the M stripe emblazoned across the car - distinct from earlier photos of a Monte Carlo blue example.

A high-revving 4.4-litre V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology powers the BMW M5, which peaks at 417kW at between 6000-7000rpm.

It’s the world’s fastest taxi ride over 20.832km that represents a single lap of the Nordschleife and allows three passengers to travel together at speeds up to 300km/h. Naturally, the $275 taxi fare can be shared by all three passengers.
