When Top Gear were handed the keys to the Nissan GT-R – it bit back, sending Clarkson home in an ambulance – let’s see how Fifth Gear fair.
With GP2 driver Bruno Senna behind the wheel – nephew of legendary F1 driver Ayrton Senna, Fifth Gear pits the GT-R against its most ferocious rival – the Porsche 911 Turbo.
Well this just showed us what every one knows already that the gtr is a wicked car and to think that thay are going to sell it here for less money that a commondore w427 is just amazing
I thought the track was wetter when the GT-R was on it. Very impressive! Bruno says that the GT-R used half a tank of fuel. Wonder what the Porsche used? Who cares really when you are strapped into one of these machines!
“Great car, but no soul, prestiage or class like a 911 VW”
Comments from the supercoach. What you mean is no badge cred.
We’ve thrashed this out before with you frugal, and still you come back with the same crap. 99.99% of modern Porsche owners are tossers looking for the kudos from having one.
If you want to see how well a GT-R goes in competition look at Steve Jones’ result in Targa West in what is for all intents a standard road car with a cage in it. To beat Jim Richards in a GT2 by the sort of margin he did shows just how competent the car is.
As for selling the Australian delivered 32s – I dont see Porsche bringing in 100 Turbos and just having them sit around waiting to sell.
You still didnt tell me what you drive frugal – its so very pertinent to the conversation.
Jash
Also there was no precedent for the R32… but have a look on the street today Frugal…. How many “grey” import Skylines GTS-T and GTR alike… I would wager a hefty number of dollars that the issue with shifting the R35 this time round may be more a case of having to put up with joining a waiting list as they are unable to keep up with demand. I personally know one person who went to Japan to get a test drive and already has one booked for his garage to replace his 34.
Bruno Senna is rumoured to get a spot at Scuderia Toro Rosso (co-owner Gerhard Berger was close friends with Ayrton) next year. Not the best team but you gotta start somewhere…
The one thing i got from this video is him saying that the 911 has been his favourite car forever. Which no doubt means he owns one and and drivin it around a track a thousand times.
The fact that this was his first drive of the GTR is incredible. Give him a few weeks with it and imagine what he would do with that lap time…….
I must admit I`m not a fan of the GTR i think its ugly and that interior looks so damn gimmicky and cheap but u have to give credit where credit is due and it kicks arse everywhere else though.
Wow – will he be in F1 next year? Hope so – love to see him with Ferrari :)
The GTR beat the VW and went around the track when it was much wetter.
Well done Nissan, again!
Cheers
F-0
And given its his first time in the GTR, no doubt he can clock up quicker…
Smokin!!! that was a Great Clip!! GIVE US MORE!!
would like to see a dry comparo now.
i think the tyre selection on each of these, being a wet track, may not show a true result
they really should have been fitted with the same tyre, especially on a wet track scenario
Couldn’t the track have dried out in that 20 minutes he was driving the GTR?
But im not surprised, the Nissan has more power (550hp v 480 in the Porsche), and it just shows.

….and this is why i like cars….’nuff said.
Bruno was pretty good on camera I thought. Maybe he can put Tiff into retirement.
Don’t forget Fifth Gear tested the GT-R back in Series 13 as well.
OK that’s it, I give up. Where do I get me a GT-R
Nissan has just entered the automotive Hall of Fame with this car.
Bruno is brilliant in front of the camera but he’s even better with a name like Senna.
Awesome stuff guys
“But im not surprised, the Nissan has more power (550hp v 480 in the Porsche), and it just shows.”
The GT-R is rated at 480Hp. Its the tuners that have extracted at least 550.
I now consider the GTR the greatest car ever built. What happens when you make it lighter?
KC – “I now consider the GTR the greatest car ever built. What happens when you make it lighter? ” Thats where Vspec comes in… lighter and more power.
and hold your tongue out for the NSX,
No way is it “the greatest car ever built”
Just becuase it beats a tuned-up-VW does not make it “greatest” or “best”
But yeah, stunning job and result for the money, then again they said that of the last official imported GTR and it took 3 years to move 100 units.
Great car, but no soul, prestiage or class like a 911 VW
Cheers

Boy o boy does bruno look like his uncle. That guy is certain to grace f1 hopefully soon and in a ferrari.
Good video except for that fact that the GTR is a piece of ugly squashed up crap.
lol

And did anyone mention half the price? Yowwwwza!

that half a second would easily be made up by porsche’s new PDK gearbox
i think he was trying hard to make the gtr slower but was dissapointed when the time returned was faster than the porsche.
Bruno is cute and can drive!
I 2nd that Adam.
:)
what a machine GTR is
Bruno rocks! When’s he going to get his own car show?!
