It’s nice , but now it looks like every other 4wd. Nissan should have kept the boxy design that x-trail was known for.

    • Crummydore

Totally agree, it kinda looks like all the other designs coming out
(in fact most of it reminds me of the now superceded CX-7).

The boxy looking current model not only stands out from the crowd, its also very practical!

Perhaps its not selling as expected?

      • Oosh

There’s no justification to turn it in to a Dualis +2.5

      • garl

I agree with your statement, it does stand out from the crowd in an instant. The boot space is also a decent storage space too. Nissan should just enhance the rugged appeal of the current Shape.

  • Ahhahah

now this thing can blend into the rest of the ix35, dualis, cx5 .ect small suvs.

  • martian

back end is a ripped from Volvo XC60

  • Robj

    yawn…boring.

  • Oosh

I’m REALLY struggling to see how this is any different from the Dualis.

  • Smokin’R32

Not a fan of that squinty eyed fat cheek look

  • MINI_CS

Seriously are the supplying crack instead pay-packets to these designers…

  • Hung Low

Keep the Xtrail boxy, its versatility and non fancy design cues is what still makes it appealing to many!

  • marc

    bad taste

  • TK

If you we are  lucky, they might give us Greenlantern type ring, that you just point at the centre console to start it up.
That will be the only thing that’s cool about this car.

  • Tup

We all know this car aint gonna look ANYTHING like this concept!!! Either way its boring and a clone of others in its class!

  • coolbeans

much better looking than the over hyped CX-5

    • Glenn Stewart

      You think it’s over hyped?

      1. World’s highest compression petrol engine in mass market
      2. World’s lowest commercial available diesel engine
      3. First diesel to not require urea and particle filter
      4. First car to include 1800MPa steel (i.e. strongest steel used in any car world wide)5. Lightest in class with arguably best ride6. Lowest fuel consumption in class for both petrol and diesel
That said the Nissan is a concept and does look cool. Unfortunately their SUV’s never get anywhere near the competition in terms of performance & handling.
Shame… because they make decent sports cars.

  • Koolkrat

(shorter version in case my previous post was too long to publish) The current x-trail shape offers a high command style seating position and a low window sill line for excellent visibility and comfort, plus great ride quality over our rough roads, enough room and boot space for a family and genuine 4wd capability for wet roads and moderate off-road use (e.g. for camping and picnics) just in case you need it – a good value family package. It basically does everything the Freelander 2 can do for $12K less money. This new hi-cross concept loses all this, so what does it have to offer over a CX-7, ix35 or Dualis? Probably nothing, which means we lose the good features of the x-trail for nothing gained – why?

  • Gus

I actually like it. It does depart from its current boxy theme but hey it could have been much worse!!!

  • Koolkrat

The problem with departing from its boxy theme is that the niche it used to fill, namely a comortable and spacious family SUV with excellent driving position and visibility will no longer be filled. The new niche it will fill is already filled by many other SUVs and sedans, so what does a family who needs the former attributes do? Spend $12K more on a Freelander 2? I’d rather keep the boxy theme, let the Dualis be affected by the hi-cross concept instead of the x-trail, and keep my $12K.

  • Nunaya_03

UGLY wtf were u smokin when u came up with that? should be called the HI-AsaKite concept…

  • 123

Just FUGLY!!! I’d rather to stick with my current X-Trail or choose Freelander 2 or Grand Vitara

  • Mike

What a dog, my turds are better looking, very disappointed.

Yeah the old look was pretty good because the car was unique.  But this unique is pretty good and i think that Nissan is using it in order to increase sales.  But i have heard rumors that says that the version of the X-Trail won’t have the off-road ability of the previous one.  I believe that this is one thing that Nissan should avoid doing because believe it or not Nissan tech… the off-road ability of the X-Trail attracted many, compared to other cars in the same segment such as the Hyundai ix35 (Tucson) which lets face it… it looks great but sucks off-road.  In-fact Nissan should upgrade the off-road performance of this new version. This for sure will increase the number of potential buyers.
