WTF is it with FWD cars? Why was the epica not RWD or even AWD, with an powertech v6 shoehorned in? Didn't Holden say (a few years back) that they were going to do a TORANA again - a small commodore?.

Please god do not tell me that this is it!?

Who signed up on the "WUSS-TRAIN???"

Holden has had that many failures in the past 5 years that they need to THINK!

ie:
CRUISE
CREWMAN - admit it, they have axed it due to dud sales.
ADVENTRA
FRONTERA

Holden - give me a job, and I will give you your next "CULT CAR".

I for one love my 2004 CDX Vectra, holden no longer selling the Vectra will be a real loss of choice. It is a shame they never really promoted it but that makes it a little more unique, which is great.

My Vectra is the best car I have I owned, it looks great but it is a little different, a European look, it is powerful, it handles well, its it is smooth and quiet on our rough roads and so on.

I bet holden do not sell many Epica's to current Vectra owners, more sales to Mazada, Audi, Honda.

"And 115kw out of a 2.5L engine, another laclustre engine from Holden"

With a low output engine, you'd at least expect decent fuel economy but 115KW with 9.3/100 ADR is pretty poor.

My Toyota has a 125KW 2.4L Engine (And its no great engine!!), with a Fuel rating of 9.1/100 ADR. I think it shows the poor level of refinement in the Epica.

I'd have to agree with Sam on this one, What a shame we didn't get one of these..

So if the car breaks down, which it will, I would go to Daewoo to get it fixed right lol!

And 115kw out of a 2.5L engine, another laclustre engine from Holden... my previously owned V6 Camry that was 14 years old had 140kw out of a 3L engine... sure this isnt a performance engine, but its 2007 ffs.

I think that high pricing wasn't the only reason the Vectra failed but poor marketing and advertising. When it came out in 2003, I only remember one ad that I saw on the TV and it was crap. It lacked any desire to own or buy a Vectra.

Just saw a Chevrolet-badged engineering evaluation vehicle parked in my street (with the badges taped over). But nothing about it looked Chevrolet-like, and the first word I googled was 'Daewoo'.

They don't look bad in a bland sort of way, but given the crappy reputation of the Daewoo Barina and Viva for safety and performance, I'll be steering clear. I hope that the rumours floating around of Skoda's arrival turn out to be true, because for $25k, I'd much rather an Octavia (or a Focus, Astra, 3, or Golf for something a bit smaller) which'll probably give equivalent size and space, but with quality underpinnings too.

"no details yet on when those Nm kick in"
its in the article,

as for the Epica in general,
I surely hope it becomes a miserable failure that will set a precedent for importing Korean cars.

The worse thing that could happen is success for the Epica as it will mean the beginning of a flood of more Korean cars on our doorstep, the way Holden is going,

Despite all the campaigning "Holden means a lot to Australia" I really think it means a lot more to Korea!

"Just a thought, why they bothered with 6 cyl they have the same power outputs as 4 cyl, just added extra weight."

Agreed, I'm guessing Holden think that selling a car this size with less than 6 cyl won't sell.

The Epica engines have a slightly higher amount of torque compared to normal 4 cylinders. I think it is 195Nm and 237Nm for the 2.0 and 2.5 respectively

Just a thought, why they bothered with 6 cyl they have the same power outputs as 4 cyl, just added extra weight. Although the power might be coming earlier in the rev range than in most fours.
