Subaru parade honours McRae legend

In honour of the late great Colin McRae, a convoy of almost 1,100 Subaru’s stretching for more than 30kms has completed a landmark drive from McRae’s home town Lanarkshire to Prodrive in Banbury.
The convoy was led by Jimmy McRae driving one of Colin’s original 1996 Impreza 555 rally cars; with the event raising over $50,000 for the McRae family’s officially nominated charities.
Having just set a record for the largest gathering of Subaru’s, the group also created another two official Guinness World Records.
These were for creating the largest parade of Subaru’s in the world and by writing out ‘COLIN MCRAE’ with their cars in a sign nearly half a mile long, visible to anyone flying into nearby Birmingham International airport.
“We had Subarus joining us from all over Europe, from Poland and the Ukraine to France and Spain, while some fans are flying in especially from Australia and Argentina to be part of this memorable occasion.”
The event was sponsored by the Subaru World Rally Team who donated items for auction such as Petter Solberg’s 2008 rally overalls signed by the man himself.
Prodrive also supported the event, arranging for many of McRae’s original rally cars to make an appearance at the event as well as a number of current generation Subaru world rally cars.

Apparently the aerial images are going to be sold for charity, however if they do appear on the official website I will amend them to the article.
Wow i couldnt tell if all that beeping was caused by road rage or just part of the parade.. so many wrx’s ey, thats pretty much what broadmeadows looks like on a weekend haha ;p
BMW. Obviously you know nothing about cars. WRX ’s are not owned by people from Broadmeadows. Broadmeadows is full of XR8s and SS’s. Not everyone that owns a WRX has to drive like an idiot and modify them. It is goods to see something like this happen, and it is for a truly excellent rally driver. You recon you are pretty funny, but mate you aren’t.

Has it been a year already? September is not a good month for motorsport personalities. Peter Brock in ‘06, Colin McRae last year and now looks like we will lose Paul Newman this year. Might be an idea to stay in bed during september for race drivers
He was a great driver.
Would have loved to have been there.
Australia/NZ should do the same thing for Possum Bourne.

Yeah I know but Steve wasnt a motorsport personality. Well hopefully the motorsport deaths are over for the year (Ashley Cooper in Adelaide), 1 is too many.
