Nismo unveil Nissan GT-R tuning package

August 29, 2008 by George Skentzos

While tuners from every corner of the globe have been hastily showcasing aftermarket performance add-ons for the GT-R, Nissan’s in-house tuning arm has been completely quiet – until now.

Nismo unveil GT-R tuning package

Nismo has today unveiled its official Club Sports Package for the legendary GT-R – and it will only cost you around $58,000 for the privilege.

The package consists of a new tire and wheel setup, suspension, Nismo branded race seats from Recaro and a new titanium exhaust system.

The wheels are a lightweight 20-inch forged aluminium product from Ray’s finished in Gunmetal grey, saving a valuable 6kg all up.

These are wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza RE070R run-flat tires and incorporate a valve tire pressure monitoring system.

The upgraded suspension package uses Bilstein Damp Tronic shock absorbers and Nismo-developed springs which have been engineered to suit the GT-R’s three distinct suspension modes.

The new driver and passenger race bucket seats were jointly developed with Recaro using a carbon shell wrapped in black leather which features embroidered Nismo and Recaro logos.

In total, they save a further 6kg each, and have been specifically designed to give added support through high-G turns – especially in the shoulders.

Finally, the exhaust system has been assembled from a mix of pure titanium and titanium alloy saving an additional 5kg while cooling has been improved with a new carbon fibre rear diffuser.

Fortunately, the entire package can be further divided into three distinct categories: chassis, seat and exhaust, which can be ordered separately – however there has been no official word on how these components actually effect performance.

not exactly cheap! what is the expected RRP of the GT-R? 130k? 150K? Not gunna leave much change from 200K with this pack.

You could buy a HSV Clubsport for the price of this pack. How ridiculous.

    4. It looks like a cross between an Audi and Mustang. Nevertheless, I bet it goes like stink!

Hmmm, unless there’s like a 4-8 seconds difference around the Ring in this Nismo GTR its not worth it.

I like the R35, but Nismo have the pricing all wrong on this stuff. And I’m afraid Rays hit those rims too hard with the ugly stick…they’re bloody atrocious.

I think all the aftermarket tuners will be quite happy with these stratospheric pricing strategies from Nismo.

      BM,
I’m awake, well I’m at work anyway.
Nismo need to put the crack pipe down and move away.
Realistically all that stuff is worth 25-30k at full retail so Nismo are bumtaxing the punter a fair wedge.
I think the wheels are pus, the suspension you would have to go with to retain the standard adjustability, and I love SR6 Recaros – I have a set in my EFO. By my reckoning the exhaust looks a little small. No matter there is plenty of nice aftermarket stuff available.

Completely agree with you there Cred, anythign from the manufacturers inhouse tuners whether it be nismo, TRD, Mugen is completely overpriced, id rather go third party tuner products.

I reckon Nismo thinks GTR buyers are all multimillionaires who can throw money around that easily

58K??? how much is the Vspec over the standard gtr?

      says:

what the 58k i could buy another car to use as a daily driver for 58k and not just a bothom of the line POS but an up spec model

      says:

people, i know the rims look like puss, but rays are mostly known for light race rims that are perfectly balenced. 58k is way to rich, take the same money to a 3rd party tuner and you will have a car that will kill you (even quicker)!

    13. Vote -1 Vote +1Stevo the Devo
      says:

$58K for a set of wheels and an exhaust pipe – Most of the boy racers will have the rims banged up on kerbs and the exhaust hanging off within a week. Had to laugh the other day when some tossbag mounted a kerb, ripped off his spoiler & intercooler and dumped coolant and oil all over the road. Money would be better spent on some driving lessons instead of this crap.
