2009 Proton Satria now just $14,990

Proton has announced that it has repositioned its 2009 Satria Neo three door hatch in the market with an even lower entry price.
A base model Satria Neo GX manual now starts at just $14,990 while keeping the same level of standard equipment as the current model.
This represents a saving of $2,000 for GX manual buyers and $1,000 for the GX automatic which now starts at $16,990.
Standard kit is surprisingly generous and includes air-conditioning, reverse sensors, ABS anti-lock brakes with EBD, SRS dual front airbags, seat belt pre-tensioners, power steering, power windows and mirrors, central locking with remote keyless entry and an alarm with immobiliser.
The high spec GXR manual also receives a significant price reduction, starting at $17,990 – a saving of $1,000.
The GXR variant adds 16-inch alloy wheels with Continental Conti Sport Contact low-profile tyres, rear spoiler, cruise control (Auto only), auto climate control air-conditioning and front fog lights in addition to GX trim as standard.
“Satria Neo was the only model in the Proton range that was not ranked amongst the most competitively priced vehicles in its category and we knew it was due for a price revision,” Proton Cars Australia’s general manager of sales and operations Billy Falconer.
As it currently stands, the Persona and Gen.2 manual models represent the lowest price point in the small passenger car category, the Savvy is the best priced in the light passenger car category and the Jumbuck is the best priced in the ute and cab chassis category.
Both the GX and GXR models are powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine with peak power of 82kW and 148Nm, which returns a combined fuel consumption figure of 7.2-litres per 100km.
Satria Neo comes with Proton’s full three-year unlimited kilometre warranty with a seven-year anti-corrosion warranty along with three year’s 24 hour roadside assistance at no extra cost.

I have a soft spot for these cars. They’re pretty awful in general, but they have character, and they’re cheap as.
Plus they have tendency to explode at about 200,000 kms (I was in an old one when it happened). Character.
d(O.o)b exterior actually looks better than the new barina. The gear stick looks cheap as though.
Was a doco on the ABC or SBS about Proton a few weeks ago and how the Maylasian Govt subsidises it’s existence and protects Proton locally with tariffs.
They interviewed some locals and no compliments to be had.
Are these still based on an old Lancer out of interest?
Nah don think so mate, for the first time I think these cars are really Malaysian designed.
BUT…you’re spot on about the tarriffs. My good mate is Malaysian and he’s told me of BMW320d costing the equivalent of AUD$100,000.
Cool looker and what not….quality? Well I look at photo of rear tail light and the panel gap does not flow through as different from tail gate to that above rear tailight. Still appeals and would hold jury out til these pseudo car experts (”self proclaimed”) start to assess these points throughout!
They would have to slash the price by half to make them worth looking at.
The you would find that they are unrelaible, incredibly cheap and tacky, just plain awful.
These make a Lada Niva look like a luxury car. Why anyone would prefer this over a Rio or Getz is beyond comprehension.
I think this is a great looking little car. A true little hatchback and not a scaled down high riding people mover.
I also hear this thing handles really well, thanks to Lotus.
Shame about Proton’s on going quality problems.

Chinese cars ‘Great wall motors’ attracting Chinese nationalist.
We are convinced to buy Australian made, like wise with other nations and their countrymen.
anyone who bought this car before the price was reduced would be seriously miffed! altho i am not sure how much dealer discount you get on top of the reduced price … i mean this is just the list price … i am sure there is room to haggle! but as many have commented, why would u bother?

I have this car Neo just bought 2 weeks ago and run ok now 560kms done, but the idle start not stable not even first services, the water tank has leaked
hope proton australia will fix all this problem for me…
i dont know why the idle not stable and car shake a little bit now after the engine start warmed up everytime at traffic the engine shake a bit coz the idle not stable in 1000rpm, air con or not, its the same…
i think the air from the engine not stable close and open…
the car is really nice, good offer from the dealer….but the engine..????
