2013 Maserati GranTurismo Sport for Australia in late 2012

By Tim Beissmann |

The Maserati GranTurismo Sport will be unveiled at next month’s Geneva motor show ahead of its Australian launch at the end of this year.

The 2013 Maserati GranTurismo Sport will become the new flagship model in the Italian sports car maker’s coupe line-up, offering enhanced exterior styling, a redesigned interior and performance hikes.

The magicians at Modena have squeezed a further 12kW out of the GranTurismo’s 4.7-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine, giving the Sport model 343kW in total. Performance data has not yet been revealed, but expect a 0-100km/h sprint time of less than 5.0 seconds.

The front end benefits from a redesigned bumper, with larger intakes for improved airflow to cool the engine and brakes.

LED daytime running lights and new dark-tone taillights give the Sport a unique character.

Inside, the front and rear seats have been redesigned and the steering wheel has been reshaped for a sportier, more muscular feel.

More details of the 2013 Maserati GranTurismo Sport will be revealed at its Geneva premiere on March 6. Stay tuned.

“Performance data has not yet been revealed, but expect a 0-100km/h sprint time of less than 5.0 seconds”

I certainly hope so, because there are so many cars that do the sprint in ~5.5seconds (e.g. Golf R) that cost almost $200,000 less. For this sort of cash, I’d expect at least 4 seconds nowadays.

a GTR can do 3. whatever 0-100 sprint, but over do it and the warranty the warranty becomes void.. some cars have launch control and others don’t..

The amount of importance people weigh on this benchmark is ridiculous. To most, A stiff, rigid, loud sounding car doing 5 secs will feel the same as a more luxurious car doing 4.5 secs.

Also, i guarantee some manufacturers would be more capable of meeting thier quoted 1-100 times than others on poor city surfaces

they should stick a bigger 6 liter v12 based on this v8.. That would be very impressive!!
but this is Stunning none the less and too quick for the little milage this car will see in its lifetime.
