Lotus Le Mans Project

Concept artist and Hollywood vehicles designer Daniel Simon has created a distinctive livery for the Lotus LMP2 sports car that will compete in this year’s FIA World Endurance Championship.

Lotus recently announced it would be supporting the German Kodewa team's LMP2 car, which will also compete in the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France. The team will run two Lola B12/80 cars powered by Lotus-badged BMW V8 engines.

Inspiration for Simon’s Lotus Livery design comes from the period Black and Gold cars that were sponsored by former tobacco giant John Player & Sons.

Born in Germany in 1975, Daniel Simon has held senior designer positions at Volkswagen and Bugatti, while other clients have included Puma, Honda and DKNY under his own Cosmic Motors entity. He has also developed a name in Hollywood for creating vehicles for Blockbuster films, such as the motorcycle in Tron: Legacy as well as livery for Formula 1 cars.
