Infiniti Emerg-e concept revealed in patent images

Official images from the patent office have revealed the styling of the Infiniti Emerg-e concept three weeks out from its unveiling at the 2012 Geneva motor show.

Published by French website Automoto, the images reveal the dramatic contours and creases of the eco-friendly sports coupe.

The patent images follow official teaser shots released by Infiniti earlier this month, which gave us our first look at the advanced sports car concept. The Emerg-e has classic sports car characteristics, including a low nose, long bonnet, flowing roofline and muscular rear haunches. The front incorporates Infiniti’s family grille while the side windowsills feature the distinctive stylised kink.

The Infiniti Emerg-e concept incorporates a mid-mounted drivetrain package to optimise balance and handling. Power reportedly comes from an electric motor and a 1.2-litre range-extending engine, with the Japanese manufacturer promising “vivid performance with zero emissions capability”.

Expect more details of the Infiniti Emerg-e concept to be revealed closer to its world premiere at Geneva on March 6.
