Jaguar will be the next big luxury brand, especially if the new XJ in 2011 is as good as the superb XF. I have just bought a superb 2008 Jag XJ Sport Premium which is fantastic and the service from the Jaguar Dealer is fautless. I have owned Audi's, BMW's and Mercedes etc, which have all been great cars, but now everybody has one, there is no exclusitivity, but there is with Jaguar (plus I would rather support British industry and workers - anyday over the Germans....so long as Jaguar produce quality products....X Type excluded). I will definetly be buying another Jaguar, probaly a new XJ or a XK (Jag do need to produce a diesel XK to compete with the BMW 6 series 635D), maybe a XF Coupe...how individual and cool will that look! Dont be a sheep...be individual buy a Jaguar and support British Industry!

Pretty racist comments from Frugal-One here.

FYI :-

a) The Jaguar XF has class leading residuals of 50% after 3 years (look it up).

b) India is not bombing anyone you fool

Yeah, they'd be pretty sensitive to the comparison. you'd reckon they'd have a thick skin - those LS460s are not the most attractive car in the world, no matter how good they are...

Pious - "As for Lexus, sit inside one and you will see that the apple (Lexus) doesnt fall far from the Toyota tree" Agree completely, only to models that they share strong similarities to one another though, like what I said in the LS460 article that it shares a strong interior to my Zr6 Aurion, I got grilled from some Lexlubbers saying how sacrilage is it to compare a lexus to a Toyota (lol), when clearly you can see by the photos...

You get raped on nearly every luxury car, no matter what. Losing 60% over 3 years is par for the course. That is why there is such a thing as d-e-p-r-e-c-i-a-t-i-o-n, and also why the trade price over depreciated cost becomes i-n-c-o-m-e, meaning more t-a-x, at least for those people smart enough to w-o-r-k. If you cant afford to wear the depreciation, buy a second hand festiva - that's f-e-s-t-i-v-a.

more garbage F-O? what a surprise...

I will bet you that the XF will have far higher residual values than any previous S-type. Resduals are also relative to initial purchase price.

You accuse the XF of having future reliability issues, well that all applies to EVERY make and model, i work for an auction company and see what you describe.

Pious actually owns an XF F-O, he CAN judge, YOU can't unless you also own an XF??

Pious is also correct in saying that a Lexus interior mimics a standard Toyota interior a little too closely at times.

I agree with everything Adam has said (in both posts). I have an XF, and the interior is miles in front of what you get from the germans, and who'd want to buy a german taxi and have the same car as all of the mums in the shopping centre carpark, anyway? As for Lexus, sit inside one and you will see that the apple (Lexus) doesnt fall far from the Toyota tree, not that it is such a bad thing. Who cares about who owns the shares - it is probably more secure now with the cashed up Tata than what it was with cash strapped Ford.
