"Anyone that puts a $15k+ Doof Doof System - with subs as big as the wheels etc in any [performance] car with an engine that sounds as awesome as the one in the GT-R is a moronic bogan and quite simply doesn;t deserve such a car." ironic tho, the GTR comes with 2 x 10"? subs as standard :),

Bah not all the time you would need to listen to the engine, especially if you happen to get stuck in traffic something to ease the stress sometimes...

Was looking at the E36 M3 awhile ago, but all of them had way too much KM's on the clock, really shows how enjoyed these cars were by their owners, might be looking at E46's end of this year.

Do you drive an E36 or E46 M3 Bavarian Missile? Nice choice either way.

I don't understand what you're saying NM, I think you're saying there's more to a sports car than performance. The point with the MR2 is that it's a fickle little car to drive. Took a friend's SW20 GT round a track and it's a right handful to drive. It's harder to control than cars twice it's size.

Besides, for the money of an MR2 there's plenty of nicer, faster and more practical cars out there.

Also, I don't get what you were insinuating about with the fugly thing? Am I ugly, is the R32 GTR ugly, is my girlfiend ugly? I don't get it?

What about the R32GTR R33GTR, anyone can afford one of these days, let alone the stereo types you mentioned. The GTR did not start at the R34 my friend. As said earlier if you have money you buy whatever you like.

Anyways if you from Melb you know the habibs here drive their VL turbo's, SS's, XR8/6T here more than the skylines...

James said "Nothing worst than seeing a 40 something year old man, wearing Gucci sunnies, balding, wearing a suit, on his way to get a StarBucks coffee on a Boxter… not even an S.
Dude… just wear a pink shirt with “cheaper way to compensate”.. same effect.

hahaha that was gold,well said!!!!!!!!!!!!

Loved the generalization.

Fair enough, a lot of "Habib's" or even "Marios" or "Thranhn" driving Skylines and such.

But just to be specific. Most are driving the cheap GT-S models. Hardly any respect for that "variant".

Most enthusiast can tell the different even if a wannabe GT-S has a GTR badge... a crime on its own there.

This GT-R... well, If I get sent to Japan sometime next year, I already have a few people over there who can get me a second hand for about 60K AUD equivalent.

Some work mates who are on their way there have plans to get their hands on it too. The point is, its expensive even as a second hand. Your typical bogan or "habib" or "mario" or even "thrahn" cannot afford it... which is good. Heck, the R34 still retails for 40~50K. Most of the "crap" versions on the road that gives that "stigma" or the main reason for the generalisations are driving cheap variants.

And to choose an inferior Porsche model to attract "gold digging" ditzies... well, to each to his own I suppose. But atleast try to get the "worthy" Porsches.

And to make a sportcar does not mean it has to be full on handling, motor with kw's heaps................Iam stating it has to have the feel and ambience inside and classic lines and svelte on outside!

Good call about Lexus and Toyota and agree somewhat hey.

With cars you comment on......I like the swoopy look of MR2. See them around and a 1993 model is still more svelte styled then current Corolla, Yaris or Camry or Aurion. Maybe you like FUGLY and be seen in FUGLY......just like being with my other half as I like to be with someone who is "NOT" fugly. Obviously the whole concept of being seen with a nice girl or driving a nice car does "NOT" register with heaps! Seems like you focus on minute nothingness when it comes to drivel about + and - on what Toyota did with Sportcars! Who cares for your comments on MR2 as it was a hot car! TOYOTA IS SOLID PERFORMERS WITH NO SOUL OR DEPTH TO THEM.....MAY AS WELL DRIVE A COFFIN HEY! LMAO MASSIVE!

Toyota still has nothing to do with anything, you're just trolling.

But, for my 2 cents: I think the axing of the Supra revival has more to do with Toyota's long term business plan. It would appear to me that Toyota is creating a large distinction between itself and Lexus. Lexus represents luxury and Toyota represents run-abouts. I reckon future sports cars will be shifted to the Lexus marque and Toyta will focus entirely on A to B cars.

That's what it seems to me. So all this talk of "Toyota has no soul, don't make sports cars" I reckon that's the idea. People associate Toyota with reliability and cheapness (don't argue this one, I'm not saying Toyotas are, I'm saying they're perceived), and Lexus will be a sports and luxury marque.

Maybe I'm wrong about the Toyota/Lexus separation, but it looks like it.

And the whole Ford/Holden rivalry, only in one car segment. Same as Mitsu/Subaru. The Commodore fights the Falcon, that's it. Every other car Holden sells here is sh*t, unlike ford which has a decent line up outside of the Falcon. Subaru only fights Mitsu with evo/STi (and that's arguable now that the STi is a hatch and thus aiming at euro hatch territory). Mitsu and Subbie don't make any other cars that properly compete.

Besides, I think Honda is more comparable to Toyota, as is Hyundai (maybe not on sales).

In any case since when did Toyota do sports cars?
MR2 = nasty little piece of oversteering wannabe ferrari/SL without a boot.
Supra = straight line monster and little else
Levin = nice dynamics but useless unless you swap the engine
Soarer = heavy and useless, good as a fatty's sports car
Celica = perfect trainee hair dresser's car, move on to SLK
Chasers and Aristos are sports sedans, not purebreds

2000GT is the only proper sports car Toyota has ever made.

"Toyota have lost the passion and have spent the last 10 years looking for it" - your joking right, they never want to look for it, they are happy raking in profit after profit lol!. The only thing they'll dabble in performance when it gives a 2x or more effect on their brand awareness and boost sales.

Once they take over the world then maybe they'll throw a bone our way or two haha. But in the time being look out for the occassional marquee cars just to keep the Toyota performance rabble satisfied now and again...

Back on topic, GTR = Marvelous car, technology at its best, cant wait for the Vspec, Mspec and so forth if they do come out...

The only thing they’ll dabble in performance when it gives a 2x or more effect on their brand awareness and boost sales.

Once they take over the world then maybe they’ll throw a bone our way or two haha. But in the time being look out for the occassional marquee cars just to keep the Toyota performance rabble satisfied now and again…

Toyota has a bit to do with this than what you might think given that They are Nissans most direct [not to mention cross town] rivals in exactly the same way Ford and Holden are.

The fact that Nissan can produce such an awesome supercar with such passion and precision.. an iconic car which gets the adrenalin running through the veins of every real car enthusiast shows how much of a mistake Toyota made when they axed their equivalent the Supra.. which reportedly could be put on ice along with the Lexus L-SFA supercar

Toyota have lost the passion and have spent the last 10 years looking for it whereas at Nissan the passion has only intensified and the new GT-R proves it

Afterall this is a car enthusiasts website & passion plays a big part in peoples decisons as to whether or not they like a particular car.. be it interms of looks or whatever

C-Red - Frugal One very rarely has anything good to say about any particular make or model .. However; he is nothing compared to the Toyo-Trio [Tomas79 TP and Dingo]

They do nothing but eat live and breathe Toyotas so much so that their wealth of ignorance will astound you.

Everyone is entitled to have an opinion so long as its the same as theirs.

They base their views on surveys and statistics and when they start losing arguements they often resort to personal attacks/insults
