Now that the production Camaro has been officially unveiled, Chevrolet is gearing up to release the Australian-bred icon in the US by the first quarter of 2009.
In true Camaro style however, more information has been leaked onto the web, this time in the form of the official Salesperson Reference Guide.
The document, which appeared the 5thGen.org Camaro fan site, outlines the various trim levels and option packages available for customers.
The 3.6-litre V6 engine, which features direct injection and Variable Valve Timing (VVT), is standard on LS and LT models, with a projected 223kW of power and 370Nm.
The flagship SS model is available with two variants of the 6.2-litre V8 power plant.
The first is the L99 variation which produces 300kW and 535Nm, and incorporates Active Fuel Management and VVT technology for improved economy.
The second is the high-performance LS3 engine as featured in the HSV line-up which develops an estimated 315kW and 552Nm.
An Aisin six-speed manual is standard fitment with the V6-powered LS and LT models, with an optional six-speed automatic available for both V6 variants and the L99-equipped SS.
The LS3 SS exclusively features the Tremec six-speed manual transmission to complement its performance credentials.
A final noteworthy component is the four-piston front and rear Brembo brake package, standard for the SS.

Dear Holden,
Sell the Camaro in Australia. Sell the Camaro in Australia. Sell the Camaro in Australia.
You know that it will be a success, so lets just to the part where you announce it is coming here.
Kind regards,
Muscle-cars Fans
Put me down for one.
I’ll be replacing my VE SS in around 2010 or 11…..
If holden do import it they will price it above what the monaro sold for making it out of reach for a lot of people who would have considered it.
Price it high and watch it sit. Code words could be Piazza, Adventra and Vectra.
Nothing sells at the wrong price. Anything can sell at the right price.
Ever since my Father had a brand new 1967 Pontiac GTO, I have been hooked on coupes. That car made everything else on the road look ordinary – and it had the muscle to match the looks.
I think the 2009 Camaro would do the same. There must be plenty of 50yo+ enthusiasts, like me,who need a new toy that has real WOW factor(not just another Commodore variation). I don’t need four doors and I really don’t care about fuel costs.
After owning a CamaroSS396 and a Trans am GTA,make my new CamaroSS-Victory Red with black stripes. GM Premium – GO FOR IT!!!
Looks nice, when they come in, where can i get one from? What will availability be like?
Yua are lucky guys!!!! Australia is a beautiful country and you can afford sch a car! In Italy fuel is too expensive and , am sure, the base price for this car would be between 35.000,00€- 40.000,00€!!!!
Luca, its a USA car not avil in Aus.
