Skoda Superb Scout winter spy shots

Skoda has been spotted testing a prototype version of the upcoming Skoda Superb Scout. This will be a jumped up version of the Superb, sitting on the new Audi A4 Allroad and VW Passat Alltrack platform.

Like the Audi A4 Allroad, the Super Scout will likely feature raised suspension by around 37mm over the normal Superb wagon, while around 20mm of extra width could be added to the track.

As for the styling, the new Superb Scout is set to come with a number of rugged trimmings, such as black plastic wheel arch cladding, and revised lower front fascia, and roof rails.

Power is expected to come from a similar unit as seen in the Audi A4 Allroad, which arrives in Australia during the third quarter of this year.

We will only get the 2.0-litre TDI with 125kW/350Nm in the Audi, however, rumour has it the Skoda will get a detuned version, producing 103kW and 320Nm.

As for the Superb Scout heading our way, Skoda Australia is remaining tight-lipped about a possible inclusion into the local lineup.

If it does eventually reach our shores, it will mean there will be three in-house models competing in the same market. Pricing, equipment and trimming levels would separate the three.

The Audi A4 Allroad and Volkswagen Passat Alltrack will arrive later this year. The Skoda, if it does make its way here, would likely follow in 2013.
