I spent last week end comparing my 2002 C5 HDI with VW Passat , Renault Laguna, Ford Mondeo Peugeot 407 and the new C5.
The Renault has pleanty of power as does the vw dsg,the pug 407 and the ford are not exactly slouches either. the ford realy is alone with mabe the renault and pug407 for road behaviour and smoothness/quitweness.
The only Citroens I could find were the 2 ltr 100Kw ones and they are certainly not lacking in performanceafter allits the same engine as the Pug and Ford. Love to try next week a v6
BUT !!!! The smoothness silence of the chassis, suspension and engine/gearbox is a class above all the others, the laminated acoustic side glass also helhs as does TRIPLE rubber seals on the doors.
Handling is well above my present one as well as the thumps frpom concrete joining strips.
Panel fit, Intereior materials and general feeling of quality is outstanding but with out the tizzyness of the british no the starkness of the germans.
So yes it ewill be my next car. only decision is which one and colour and trim. at least unlike ford and pugeot trim does not HAVE TO BE BLACK !!
any way if you try it you'l by it. simple as. money permiting of course.
even the 2 ltr diesels would be a lesson to the average ford holden 6 cylinder junkie. IF one could ever get them to try a tourquey euro diesel.

We test drove the C5 on Wednesday, August 27th, and immediately fell in love with it. The car was the 2.7 HDI version and we will take the 2.0 litre for a run on Saturday. Then it's just a matter of deciding which car and the colour we choose. We already have a Peugoet 407 HDI Coupe so know the engine. I found the C5 much easier to move with no noticable lag when taking off. We're really looking forward to taking delivery of our C5. Take one for a drive and you certainly won't be disappointed.

One the commute up to sydney from wollongong, i've seen heaps of them being shipped on trucks. They look even tidier in the flesh!. If you're doing the trip, keep your eyes peeled. They generally wind up trucking by about half seven in the morning. Too many cars coming up Mt. Ousley by that time, They truck plenty of exotics too! Some tidy looking Audi R8's went by this afternoon.

It will be interesting to see the prices - particularly for the 2.7l V6 diesel. Don't know why peaople are making such a fuss over the engine though - its the same V6 diesel thats been in various Peugoet 407 variants plus Jags for several years now. And with the 407 V6 diesel starting around the $60,000 mark, I would expect this C5 V6 diesel to be about the same price. It will be interesting to see.

This cars looks are conservative but very visually pleasing, I like it. Also the engine is geared up to be a potential fantastic performer. Good work Citroen!

The old and odd looking one in a 2L diesel was over priced at $50K, if they keep this price point it would be well worth a look for people purchasing in that price range. It will finally be worth the money they are asking.

Fantastic looking car!

150 kW 440 Nm of torque 2.70-litre Twin Turbo V6

Now that's an impressive amount of torque for a medium sized car.

Hopefully it will be priced smart and can actually compete against its opposition.

From the reports in the UK - build quality massively improved and very closely chasing the germans. Looks really good on the road. While not having the ultimate handling attributes of a Mondeo, it is set up as Citroens normally are - for comfort and cruising it is by all reports a very, very good car and massively superior to the old C5.

What a good looking car especially the wagon.......i am considering this wagon along side the Mondeo wagon for my next car so i look forward to seeing them both in the metal in the next few weeks.

Let's hope the build quality and reviews are as good as they look!!!

O, I doubt Ateco can price it at $29990, I'm betting it will cost about $10k more than that. Considering you were born in September any chance that you could spell it correctly? :D

Looking at the red car, one could be forgiven for thinking that this is a Mondeo with a new nose.
Looks quite good for a Citroen, engine sounds reasonable and performance should be quite impressive.

I think Citroen are setting the standard in the design department these days. Not too many other manufacturers have such a good look going in their brands.

If Citroen can get a diesel hybrid to market at a similar (or better) price point to the Prius, all wrapped in a modern Citroen shell, it would sell a ton.

It's a beautiful looking car, inside and out.
