@theo .. i was just researching as to WHY these importers charge soooo much in australia .. just like the late model mustangs, i love mustangs but whos gunna pay 180K for a gt500 rhd .. its still only a ford and still a fixed rear axel .. i love them but IF i ever had that money id be buying a late model M3!!!.. saying that how accurate are your figures for a corvette. Im looking at one now and your right you can get a z06 for about US25K with the way the aussie dollar is its far to say 1:1.. so AUS25K . .how much are the luxury taxes and import taxes and then RHD conversion.. even if the conversion was 50K thats realy still only a 80-90K total .. as someone else mentioned wheres that 100k+ come from?? i questioned this regarding teh GT500.. you can buy one in the US for bugger all .. yet they tell me to make it compliance its another 100K .. seriously you could build ur own car for that or buy 5 LHD cars for that money .. its total BS .. ill be calling Corvette Clinic to find out how much for RHD and aussie compliance if i already had a LHD corvette .. which im sure they will most likely give me the bloated price.. considering im sure they sell converted cars for 100k+ which is a rip.. i found a place in the US that are selling the same RHD corvettes for US150K, seriously whats wrong with these people??

I laugh at this article. On vettehound the major site for selling corvettes in the USA you can purchase a 2007 z06 corvette for 25-30grand with 10 000miles on the clock. The shipping only costs around 5g max. Import is 15 % of the sale so say another grand. A decent mirror reflection rhd conversion 30grand. That adds up to 70 grand for a z06 which has 15000km on the odo and complied. I know which one ill be picking.

240,000 AUS Plus on road! yep i saw these in L.A. a few weeks ago 72,000 US Plus on road.
with import duty 11,000, shipping say 20,000, Cange over to RHD (which you dont have to do you can REGO as LHD)say another 20,000.
That ADD up to 123,000, what the hell is the other 100,000plus dollars for.
Bendover Aussies and get RIPPED OFF!!! what a Joke!

why pay the importers anything at all,,,do some homework and bring it over yourself,,i just brought a new ls7 crate engine over which took about 10 days and saved 7 grand ,,just my bit of a say

For those of you who haven’t worked it out, Aussies get systematically ripped off by importers who buy cars, bikes etc with the strong Aussie dollar, do NOT pass on the savings and claim that this is the “cost of doing business”. A load of crap, anyone who has travelled OS knows you can buy, say a new Ford F250 ute for under 20 grand, yet here in Oz used examples sell for 4 times that. Harleys, Dukes, you name the marque, all retail for 15-20%% less in the US, but we continue to make the importers rich, kind of sucks wouldn’t you say? Importers are giving to Aussie enthusiasts up the arse, enthusiastically, and laughing all the way to the bank.

i hope so i’d rather buy a 911 for that little bit more and get the status figre aswell as the performance like my muscle cars but it costs 30 grand to do a rhd conversion luxury tax is only about 8 grand no way is the cost equal too 240g bet yo’d still looking at plus 150 same as new challenger an camaro we can only hope it is american ater all lol keep ya money buy german
