Few cars fit the motto of “No replacement for displacement” so perfectly as did the thunderous 8.4-litre V10-powered Dodge Viper.
That tradition looks set to continue with the 2013 Viper, though it is most likely to settle for a retuned V10 of the same displacement rather than the 8.7-litre unit that has been thrown around the rumour mill for some time.
Dodge has released its first teaser image for the new Viper that will debut at this year’s New York Auto Show in April and is expected to become known just as the SRT Viper – being positioned as the halo model for the brand’s Street and Racing Technology division.
Production of the 2013 Dodge Viper will reportedly commence late in 2012 with a price of around US$137,000.
Earlier spy shots of the car show it heavily camouflaged, but a new front end with daylight running lights is a given, as is a Bilstein suspension system that offers a ‘Sport’ button to alter the settings from touring to sport, or even sport plus.
Until then though, SRT seem bent on slow teaser campaign on their Facebook page with the above image just posted.
