Great looking machine. Quite an improvement over the tried and true Jaguar styling. Hope that it is a success

Frugal - soory dude don't agree with you at all. Finally Jag have moved on, its the first of a phase I would imagine as Jag cannot survive on one model. The XK, XJ & X-type are not selling well so they seriously need new models.
Having sat in one of these I can say they are the bees knees espcially the diesel donk. However this is about an M5/RS6 basher. Roll it out Jag.

Frugal One, could you be specific on how it looks like a Hyundai because I cant think of a single Hyundai that looks anything like this. And if it looked like an old Jaguar, youd probably be complaining that its too old fashioned. Finally, its definatly a car that looks better in real life.

FRugal One

That's the point. It finally doesn't look like a rehashed 60's Jag. They can't keep on tweaking the same design for 40 years and expect it to look fresh.

This looks excellent and if I had the dollars I'd buy one instantly.

As for not competing with the Germans, I don't see why not. This car is definitely good enough to.

I admit that Jag. have turned a new leaf and its [from outside and internal] a complete new design.

THE problem is that it has a identity crisis.

It does NOT look like a Jag, we all know what a XJ6/XJ40 etc look like ["A JAG"] but this is nowhere looks wise.

Cars have a family look, this might as well be a new brand, if i had to take i would say its a Hyundai! :-)

Cheers

i must say the 'new' jaguar is fantastic - give them credit for trying a bold new styling direction and the use of lightweight materials (aluminium etc) to create a more bespoke line of cars than M-B and BMW and Audi. As a M-B owner I must say Jaguars are the polar opposite to my preference but the XF and the XK and the upcoming XJ redesign shows a lot of promise. They'll never compete w the Germans but then again I can't see a 1-series or a B-class competitor from Jaguar - doesn't make sense...! IMHO they should target the Maserati clientele...

I got one in a V8 - that hyundai comments hurts, it hurts bad...mainly because I cringe whenever I see an elantra. I just concentrate on that sweeeeet rear end - My wife is jealous. Talk for the R is 0 - 100 in less than 4 secs, (supercharged 4.2 V8 is getting there in under 5, despite stats of 5.1) but that seems very fast given the weight factor.

Going to need the 500HP if its going to join the German party.

For mine i will wait for the Italian fightback, will it be Lancia or AlfaRomeo with the megapower sedan?

Cheers
