Mitsubishi to unveil global concept at Geneva

Mitsubishi will unveil an all-new concept vehicle at the 2012 Geneva motor show in March. The company released this teaser image, previewing a new design direction that will form part of the future Mitsubishi line-up.

Mitsubishi hasn't revealed much about the concept, or what segment it fits into, however, in the company statement the concept is described as a "strategic and innovative premium vehicle".

The concept is very similar to the Mitsubishi Concept PX-MiEV II, unveiled at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show in November, suggesting this could be a concept version of the all-new Mitsubishi Outlander.

Characteristics of the concept showcase the company's new design language, which will be used on a range of upcoming global Mitsubishi vehicles, from small cars to SUVs.

Mitsubishi says the philosophy is still evolving, but it is envisaged as an open concept, and one that is versatile enough to blend in with various new platforms.

It showcases consistent contours and a simple yet modern face incorporating the three-diamond Mitsubishi logo, while there's also high cheekbones with a large lower intake below the two-tier chrome centre grille.

A production version of the concept is set to be revealed later this year.
