2013 Audi A3 interior unveiled, exterior revealed accidentally
The interior of the new 2013 Audi A3 has been officially unveiled while the exterior has been revealed inadvertently during a computer demonstration at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
The 2013 Audi A3 will feature various new technologies, including a comprehensive in-car entertainment and media system using a screen that rises up from the dash.
The unit uses a dual-core Tegra 2 1.2GHz processor and an MMX (Multi-Media eXtension) board to provide the A3 with in-car internet and media functions. Tied in with the technology is an optional Phone Box system, capable of fully connecting to any phone type.
The dash itself also showcases an all-new design, featuring aviation-style cabin venting, and an uncluttered layout for the climate control settings. A central crease separates the dash highlighted in contrasting silver.
As for the exterior, rendered images of the new model reveal the A3 will follow in the design footsteps of its latest bigger brothers. It gets sharp, tapered headlights, a new lower apron which is split up into three sections - with the corner intakes divided further by a single cross bar - and a large six-tier grille dominating the face.
The waistline of the 2013 Audi A3 is more prominent compared with the existing model, and like most new model Audis, it features a crease running from the point of the headlights back to the top of the taillights.
As for the powertrain options, the 2013 model will come with a range of turbocharged petrol and diesel variants, including a new 1.4 TSI with cylinder deactivation technology.
All is expected to be unveiled in full at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March.
